and they are playing at Madison Square Garden. It was a poor choice to alienate the bulk of your fan base.

Why in the hell did they schedule it in New York? The stands have looked empty in the games I've watched. I know there are a lot of faithful B1G fans that travel, but damn it is a long way from Lincoln, Nebraska.

a lot of big10 alumni in nyc too.....but they work during the week and definitely dont do msg in bombacyclones. i think the bigger travesty is having it week before the other p5 tourneys

New York cost too much for most Big 10 fans. There just isn't much interest in going to NYC for the tournament. Chicago and Indy were fairly centralized for most fans to attend.

Just my thoughts on what I have seen. I knew many fans who went to Indy or Chicago (myself included), but I don't know even 1 person going to NYC.

FWIW, attendance is always going to suck during the opening rounds. Nobody wants to watch shitty basketball teams play on a neutral site. Location is irrelevant in that regard.

Quarterfinals should always have respectable attendance. Semi-finals and finals should always be a sellout.

With that said, NYC is just a terrible location for the ACC and Big Ten to hold their conference tournaments. There are just (much) better locations for both tournaments.
