Bielema made $2.6 Million at Wisconsin. His new payday is being variously reported as $3.2 Million, $3.6 Million (to match Petrino), $4 Million, and $4.6 Million.

The bigger difference is assistant coach pay. We're one of the lowest-paying BCS conference teams. Our assistant coaches, in total, make $1.9 Million. The SEC teams universally pay their assistants over $3 Million.

The list of things for the move are:
a) Get out of Alvarez' shadow
b) W club ran him thru the ringer early in the year with the losses and new coach hires
c) Assistant coach pay caused constant turnover
d) $$$$$$$

We'll see how this plays out, but to me it's a lateral move. Is it a move to position himself for something he sees down the road or did he just have enough of the old farts stupidity in the booster club?

It all makes sense to me now. Why Wisconsin continued to bring in free agent QBs. Alvarez was calling the shots on certian things and now he has the team brainwashed thinking that his 3-0 Rose Bowl record somehow gurantees they won't lose. :L God help the program if you win! What coach is going to want to come in and coach under 4-0 Barry? Alvarez should probably step aside after this season.

You can just stop trolling now.

Or turn off the full retard.

Whichever is the case.

Haha, Ben.

Worgull was down the hall from me freshman and sophomore year. He was a little bit of an ass to me, but in his defense I was probably pretty fucking obnoxious to be around, so I can't really blame him. I was never a big party-goer (I don't drink and I wasn't too social till well after school), and he was, but we had mutual friends and ran into each other a lot. He also ran the floor March Madness bracket one year. Pretty sure he's a better guy than I give him credit for, and sports reporting seems like a perfect fit for him. Hope he's doing well.

Interesting. HE thought YOU were obnoxious? You must have been nuts.

I heard the reason he went to Arkansas based on sports sources was higher pay and the fact that Wisconsin was not paying his staff enough to keep them around. Arkansas promised to pay for a supportive staff.

Welllllll fuck. That probably means that Barry refused, despite us having one of the top 10 athletic budgets in the country. So more turnover seems...likely.

Alvarez needs to get the new HC fast, and they need to retain five of the assistant coaches. I won't even name them. They just flat out have to get it done. I'm not ready for yet another year of transition. There is no way Bielema isn't talking to his favorite staffers.

Is Butch Davis still a candidate? Because that is in no way, shape or form a botched hire and he probably would be the best option available.

I could be wrong but isn't Butch Davis in NCAA trouble or caused the NCAA violations at UNC? Also isn't he tied to the violations in Miami. I don't want any of that. Plus he isn't that great of a coach. We could hire a decent Sunbelt coach and be just as good.

Well as I said before we know Wisconsin likely wont hire a guy unless Alvarez is 100% confortable with him( ie feels like he can control). That means a guy who has already been there like Chryst or some ex-Iowa guy that Alvarez has known for forever, Im thinking Bobby Diaco from ND probably looks pretty good right about now after a NC game run and winning the Broyles award.

Your dead wrong. He went to Miami after the violations and cleaned the school up.He was also cleared of any wrongdoing at Carolina by the NCAA. He, unlike john blake and Jim Tressel, does not have a show clause penalty and has not been in trouble with the NCAA. You say he isn't a great coach but did you see how he did at Carolina in 2010 missing 10+ players? We wouldve been BCS contenders, and Miami won two national titles after he left with his recruits.

Also, whenever he were to leave coaching there are a lot of coaches that have been coordinators under him that have gone on to be successful coaches.

In 2000 he finished 11-1 but didn't play for a national title. FSU (who he beat in the regular season) did.

Your own boy reported that a player on the team said they would like Barry to coach them in the Ross bowl and when asked why his answer was "3-0". Sounds brainwashed to me.

Don't see how you figure I'm trolling when it's coming from the horses mouth. The part about Barry calling the shots behind the scenes, sure it's my own speculation but it's not to far fetched considering you have players on the team touting his "3-0" rose bowl record so fuck you very much.

I heard today that the Arky AD was extremely interested in the B1G Championship game...supposedly, per Bill King, they were going to offer either DoucheBag Bret or FagBoy Bo...the decision was much easier than anticipated

Just watched Bielema's press conference in Arkansas. He managed to take a shot at the B1G officials, blaming them for Wisconsin's 1 loss(Michigan) in 2006 on that punt return that was called back. Come to think of it. It really was some bullshit.
