Ya know what's great? That a photographer was actually there to get this photo. Most cases, the Browns played in front of 900 well oiled fans. The crowd in the background seems like it's painted on. 18,000 for the doubleheader. The day before, they drew around 1,800.

Was this one of Bill Veek`s (sp) brain storm idea`s...? And if I remember right,I do believe that was Gaedel`s only at bat.........

Yeah it was a gimmick. Veeck did what all of us want to do ... the job you love and making people happy.
Gaedel has a great-nephew Kyle Gaedele, who has played some pro ball and is now in the indy leagues.
The spelling is different. I can't recall why that is.

Bill Veeck told Gaedel if you swing at one pitch I have a sniper on the roof who will shoot you down.

The next day the league made a rule that no 'little people' could play and Veeck asked what about Phil Rizzuto?

That poll can not be complete without the classic "Birds On The Bat"...nuff said....post fail
Actually you are correct. I intended to put them in there. Notice I said my personal top 10 faves, but I actually only put in 9, which was an accident. I had the Cardinals as the other team in my top 10 and just forgot to put them in. My bad!

No, no none of this my bad crap. Nobody leaves the room until you post a photo of the Birds on the Bat.

Of all the blue unies, this one held up the best.
The Phils also had a throwback cream-white jersey that had some blue piping on it. I think it was probably from the 40s. I've seen them once or twice. That was classy. The Giants cream white is also nice, but I don't like it as much.

The North Yukon Frozen Balls had a nifty set of threads.

The Braves have nice uniforms. Red white and blue rarely looks bad.

As a general rule, I like road grays better than home whites. White is just too sharp and shocking.
