Easily Ray McDonald IMO. Not only did Ray not mail it in after his pay day (a 5 year deal), but he turned it up a notch; he's developed into an upper echelon 3-4 LDE who can rush from the nose on passing downs. And they got him for a song!

5 years for 20 million! What a bargain. I was very happy the Niners brought him back because I thought he was agreat rotational DE. Little did I know he'd develop into a force as a starter! My only concern with him last year was his ability to stop the run. He more than dispelled my concerns.

You know, I think you're spot on here. This and the Tarell Brown extension a few years back are looking like great moves now. Hopefully the Boone extension is similar. Any other young players we should be looking to lock up now? Bowman has already broken out, unfortunately.

I can never figure Ray out. I felt that he kept hyping and being excited for Tebow just to mess/tease/annoy others. Then, he starts supporting Alex more, but it seems genuine. So I don't know what to think.

Best FA signing IMO was Rogers. Ray was a close second. Goldson was a decent third.

I'd be fine with Miller, but I don't see the need to rush an extension for a guy who wasn't even dressed on Sundays.

True, but he was really, really impressive in preseason, and I like his versatility. We'd get him for really cheap.

True. they certainly don't go 13 and 3 and to the NFC Championship game without him, but I'll go with Rogers and Akers.

Yeah, I think Akers did as much or more for our 13-3 than Smith did - imo... Rogers is a good one too.

Don't forget the special teams players like Spillman and Costanzo... They made it tough for opponents by helping pin them down deep in their own territory

I agree that Rogers would have been the best FA pickup if it were a longer deal, so with that I'd have to say either RayMac or Akers.

The best FA signing in 2013 is probably going to be Andy Lee, think we can get him for another 6yr/7mil deal? Or is that too low?
