I am obviously biased as well but Alan Page not being included in your "safe" list is amazing to me.

Page is number 1 on my list

Shit... I thought he played both. Well give me my number 17 then Ray Childress

Childress is who I took off when I added Long.

Why is Reggie White not on the list of 16? And Hampton was a L end.

Man that's tough. Cortez was really the only HOF caliber DT I watched play.... so I can't say he is the best DT (obvious bias is obvious). I will say though, he's on my top 3 of players I would love to have young/healthy ON THE TEAM NOW (who was on your team prior years). Kennedy, W. Jones, and Hutchinson would probably be my 1-2-3. Largent is close by Jones/Hutchinson is bar none best left offensive side to play football ever. (k went a little off track).

Do you consider Page #1 because he was the only defensive lineman ever to win the NFL's MVP award? Or because he was the first (and one of only 2) defensive player to win it. Something that no one else on that list ever did.

Are you talking Hampton as in Casey Hampton?

Dan Hampton most likely… But Casey was a beastly anchor. If we were talking about 3-4 NT's then Casey would be somewhere near the top of the list.

Cortez!!!! He played on some BAD teams so he never got the national exposure, But Seattle's D even on those bad teams had some stout years behind Tez eating up that line... our 2-14 team back in the early 90's had a GREAT defense despite our utterly inept offense ... Tez was and anchor and always got double teamed ... Seriously hard to say who the absolute best was but Tez was SUCH a force..

I swear I remember Howie Long playing tackle. Fridge? I don't think so. I'm a little surprised you didn't include Leon Lett.
