Best Character in a Movie

Good call. That's a very disturbing movie, but Malcom McDowell was great in it.

A more obscure movie of his is Gangster No. 1, in which MM plays another diabolic villain in the title role. Also a great job by David Thewlis as Freddy Mays in that pic.

That looks pretty good. I'll have to check it out.

Nice lists. Travis is a particular favorite of mine. Very interesting treatment in Taxi Driver of the potential tension between virtue and lunacy.

My parents still have a VHS tape of me playing the role in the 6th grade. It's awfully cute, but do you want to hear a funny but sad story about it? It was about a month before I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and I'd lost around 25 pounds, so my costumes (even my belt) were all too big, and so I spent half the play with my hand in my pocket yanking my pants up. I found out many years later that the parents of the girl that I had a crush on at the time always responded to my name after that with "that's the perverted kid that couldn't stop playing with himself during that play you guys did, right?". We had a good laugh about it then, but it was awfully embarrassing to be thought of that way for something that wasn't my fault!
