I think he's my top choice.

Babcock isn't happening. I think people that talk about him coming to Philly are funny.

I really want to know what the delay was? What changed since Wednesday?....
and I too don't see Babcock taking over this team. Tim Pinnacio has a good article on csnphilly.com about the firing.

Really, Berube was the one who really pushed to move Hartnell. He didn't like him when he was an assistant and when he had the GM's ear he used it. The Umberger deal hurt two lines...no one expected Umberger to be injured but I really wonder how long he was playing when he should have been shelved.

And clearly the friction with Mason didn't help.

Buh bye Chief you were a better player than coach which isn't saying much. Wonder what Hexy was thinking in delaying the one day to let him go.

Tim Pinnacio has a good article on csnphilly.com about the firing.

Well, there was at least one good statement in the article:

"In today’s NHL, the offense begins with the defense’s ability to start quickly out of its own end. The Flyers often didn’t hit full stride until well past the red line."

Good move. I also suspect we may see some major changes going forward with the roster as well.

I don't see major changes this year with so many under contract for next year. 11 forwards, 7 dmen and 1 Goalie. After next year Grossmann and L. Schenn come off the books and if Umberger stinks again, he would be bought out. Minor moves next year but some good stuff the following year.

A name nobody mentioned that may be a big name someday in the NHL ( Blashill), Detroit's farm system coach from GR. With a younger team coming up, this may become an option. I just don't see Babs leaving Detroit.
