Based on tape study, NFL Films' Greg Cosell believes Florida State's Kelvin Benjamin is a "slightly" better receiver prospect than Texas A&M's Mike Evans.
Cosell called Evans a "measured mover," while Benjamin is a superior athlete with more vertical explosion when the ball is in the air. "I remember watching Benjamin run by Florida's corner, Loucheiz Purifoy, on a deep post -- and Purifoy can run, he's in this draft as well -- and Benjamin definitely showed a burst with the ball in the air," Cosell said. "Which is something you definitely look for when you look at vertical routes. ... You don't need to be a 4.4 guy to do that. You know Jerry Rice did that exceptionally well. And Jerry Rice was never a 4.4 guy."

I think he is there at #34.

Didn't Purifoy run something like a 4.6 or 4.7 forty though at the Combine? Don't know if running past Purifoy is the best example of showing that Benjamin has great athleticism. Now of the two I would take Evans in a heart beat. Benjamin could have a bit more upside but Evans is a guy day 1 steps in as a #1 receiver for a team and produces. He has better hands, route running, comparable speed, and to me is stronger at going up and getting the football. Benjamin has too many passes he lets get into his body which is why he has such a high drop rate.

I agree with you. He has awful hands. But he passes the eye test and might be drafted higher than he should.

still wouldn't mind taking benjamen, I'm worried that CB Roby might somehow be on the radar though.
