Bengals shopping WR John Ross after two seasons
Wow. That is different from a front office stand point.

Hmmm.... Not sure what to make of this report. The Bengals front office doesn't normally conduct business like this....i.e. floating info to Schefter or other NFL insiders. In fact, I normally find the NFL insiders to know almost less than the local beat guys, who also never seem to know anything. It's a secretive organization.
Playing along with the report, I suppose this could be a 'new sheriff in town' sort of way of doing business and the reports might be true. If so, it doesn't necessarily surprise me.... Any coach is going to want to rebuild his roster with personnel that fit his system. Sometimes you maximize your assets (trades, draft picks) so that you can build your roster quickly. It's hard for me to figure why Ross wouldn't fit into the system - A guy that could stretch the field has a role in every offensive system. But, like you said, maybe the new staff isn't sold on him. He certainly hasn't looked like much of a player in his first two years.
What would you want for him? At this point, if someone traded us a 2, I would take it.
Why not just cut him?Bengals shopping WR John Ross after two seasons

I wouldn't give him up for a 4th.... You can't teach speed and if our offensive coaches show a little creativity they'll get something out of him. Hell, make him return kicks. He's fairly cheap at this point, so unless you really think the pick is of value, you should keep him. It's not like he's any worse than Josh Malone or Cody Core so we have the roster space.
Duke Tobin said it's not true.
Also just for good measure, the Bengals picked Ross right before Pat Mahomes, Marshon Lattimore and Deshaun Watson...
