Its looking more and more like the Bengals are planning on taking their 2nd WR in the 1st Round if Floyd is available. The Bengals rescheduled DT Amobi Okoye's visit so they could attned Notre Dame's Pro Day. I'm starting to feel like Magnum P.I. over here....lol!

excerpt~

Previous reports had stated that free agent defensive tackle Amobi Okoye was planning to visit with the Cincinnati Bengals this Tuesday. Unfortunately that visit was postponed, according to Adam Caplan, because the Bengals coaching staff attended Notre Dame's Pro Day.

For what it's worth Mayock says there's no way Floyd makes it past the Jets at 16, and that he'll be strongly considered at 7-10..

He's also NDs color commentator, so there might be a bias

I was ridiculed for saying I thought he'd go 7th to Jacksonville.

Its all about VALUE! Go back and look at the recent drafts and you'll notice the Top 10 players eventually drafted were usually ranked within 3 spots of the Team's draft position. For example in 2004 Detroit had the 7th pick and selected WR Roy Williams who was ranked 6th overall. In 2005 Minnesota had the 7th pick and select WR Troy Williamson who was ranked 10th overall. In 2006 Oakland had the 7th pick and selected Michael Huff who was ranked 8th overall. In 2007 Minnesota again had the 7th pick and selected Adrian Peterson who was ranked 3rd overall. In 2008 New Orleans had the 7th pick and selected Sedrick Ellis who was ranked 6th overall. In 2009, Al Davis being Al Davis, went against logic and selected Darrius Heyward-Bey with the 7th overall pick who was ranked 25th overall. In 2010 Cleveland again bucked the trend and selected Joe Haden, ranked 16th overall, with the 7th overall pick.

Possible draft choices

Ranked 4th overall Morris Claiborne CB 5'11⅛" 188 LSU
Ranked 5th overall Trent Richardson RB 5'9¼" 228 Alabama
Ranked 6th overall Fletcher Cox DT 6'4" 298 Mississippi State
Ranked 7th overall Justin Blackmon WR 6'0⅞" 207 Oklahoma State
Ranked 8th overall Ryan Tannehill QB 6'3⅞" 221 Texas A&M
Ranked 9th overall Quinton Coples DE 6'5¾" 284 North Carolina
Ranked 10th overall Luke Kuechly ILB 6'3¼" 242 Boston College

DHB wasn't 7th. It happens. The still need a WR and Floyd might be too much to pass on.

I'm saying he wasn't the 7th overall prospect and that teams sometimes pick WRs earlier.

Agreed, I originally said that I thought Floyd would be gone before the Bengals pick. August asked where. I said Jacksonville was one possibility. There are others too, the Jets being one.

I hope he's right. We have other more pressing needs.

We don't have a legit #2 receiver, but with the number of options we have including Gresham and one of the best #1's in the league, it isn't as pressing as SS and CB. You could even argue MLB is more pressing. Plus there are always WR's on the market that could be had if absolutely necessary.

We have the makings of one of the worst secondaries in the league, but we have no other needs?

BTW Vance -- I hope you were kidding :)

LOL. Yes, I am. But, Marvin has been touting Binns all offseason, as well as saying he wants to get Brandon Tate into the passing game more.

Just what I wanted to see.... More Brandon Tate. Good grief.

I'll admit that the Bearcat homer in me is hoping that Binns makes it in the league -- But he wasn't drafted for a reason and I'm fearful that that reason is that he can't play in this league.

I completely disagree.

Leon Hall is likely to be either out or not at the level he normally plays. 2013 is probably the earliest you can expect him to be at his normal level.

PacMan Jones had played in 13 games in the last three seasons. When he has played he has shown considerable rust and has even cost us a game.

Nate Clements turns 33 this season. He is seven seasons removed from his only probowl birth. He has played in over 160 NFL games. He was a fine player, but he's no longer a number 1 corner and it's questionable whether he is a second corner.

Jason Allen is a back-up.

Brandon Ghee stinks.

Reggie Nelson is average.

The rest of the safeties don't belong in the NFL.

Why would you disagree that DB is a need?
