Jordan Campbell, LB, Bengals

Margus Hunt, DE, Bengals

Onterio McCalebb, CB, Bengals

Bengals are trying to put real tigers on the field to play on Sunday's.

Not only will be beat you to the finish line, but we will leave you black and blue in route to the goalline. These guys the bengals have been drafting and signing lately (young guys) are freaks of nature in their own ways.

Then you have steady Eddy's at the top of the draft in guys like Eifert, a very safe pick, and Bernard, a guy capable of complimenting the offense and helping them.

I am a little excited about the future of this young team.

I am excited to see the following players in training camp and preseason and see how they do with the hype surrounding them this offseason...

Jordan Campbell
Margus Hunt
Cobi Hamilton
Onterio McCalebb
Rex Burkhead
Brandon Joiner
Emmanuel Lamur
Shawn Williams

I wouldn't say all those players really have much hype aside from what local writers have to say.

I am just talking about my expectations I guess.

I can see everyone of those players potentially making this team in some form this season, even in limited capacity.

Hopefully, McCalebb can turn into that burner to cover #1 WR's with straight line speed to allow the rest of teh secondary to focus on other players. I know he is a long ways away from being able to do that, especially since eh was a RB in college, but I think it was worth the chance moving him to CB.

Good points, but I'm not sure McCalebb or Campbell even make the team.

I think Crash has been drinking the kool-aid again....

At most, there are probably 4 or 5 roster positions up for grabs this season. Believe it or not, the organization has done a relatively good job of adding nice talent the last few seasons. If you have a relatively fixed roster (which I believe we do), you don't have a high likelihood of late round guys making the roster. Unless you have injuries or suspensions.

The toughest of those battles are LB, because I have three listed on that list. Of the 3 I think has the best chance of NOT making it is Bandon Joiner.

Margus Hunt (no way he does not make the team)
Cobi Hamilton (no way he doesn't make the team - look at our WR's to realize that)
Onterio McCalebb (there isn't anyone else on the team with his kind of speed - project inactive most weeks)
Rex Burkhead (he may have a tough time but I think worst case scenerio - practice squad)
Shawn Williams (no way in hell he doesn't make the team)

Burfict, Vontaze (starter)
Harrison, James (starter)
Maualuga, Rey (starter)
Campbell, Jordan (7th LB - special teams - inactive most sundays)
DiManche, Jayson (who?)
Joiner, Brandon (practice squad)
Lamur, Emmanuel (was talked about as a starter, so I imagine he is first backup)
Maybin, Aaron (not sure how to judge this guy, is he worth the extra money he will cost over others?)
Moch, Dontay (his ass needs cut)
Porter, Sean (just drafted so probably okay)
Rey, Vincent (special teams player)
Schaffer, J.K. (who?)
Taylor, Bruce (who?)

So I think LB I listed there was a bit of a tough nut to crack, but Lamur is for sure, and I think Campbell has a chance to participate this year and grow into a bigger roll. He has all the physical talent, now we just have to see if he grasps the playbook and plays within his role unlike another physical freak we have, Taylor Mays.

Would love to see him make the roster.

I don't really know much about him other than he is from Virginia Tech and that he didn't get drafted. But then again, neither did what seems like half the guys on this roster.

He's a very sure tackler. Had an injury in college, and didn't run a great 40 time at the combine, but is an intelligent guy who tackles.

I like tacklers. However, if he is lacking in speed, he had better hope he makes that up in quick play recognition, lighting fast first step, and ability to shed blocks.

You think they take 7 LBs? I think they only carried 6 last year. If they carry 7 WRs, they probably won't take 7 LBs too.

I don't think they can really afford to keep 7 WR's (not saying they won't), especially how weak that depth is. I would rather carry an extra player somewhere else where talent can remain on the roster than try to hold an extra WR just to say we did even though they do not deserve to be on the roster. That is my 2 cents worth though.

I don't think they'll carry 7 LBs either. If anything, they'll carry an extra D-lineman or an extra member for the 2ndary.

I don't think they'll go heavy at LB either..... I also think they might keep extra DBs and possibly go heavy at running back given the good special teams players they have at the position.

There is a decent chance we keep 4 TEs too.

True.

But LB's seem to make the best special teamers. Good strength, decent speed, willing to make those bone crushing hits that other guys like secondary and WR's seem to shy away from more. In my opinion, RB's, safeties and LB'ers make the best special teamers.

So it is a good possibility we do not keep 7 LB'ers...probably more than a good possibility, but I am personally rooting for a couple of those guys to make the roster.

DiManche makes it over Campbell. They have been raving about him so far.

Has not even got to training camp yet. I think I would hold off declaring anything based on a few off hand comments.

I don't think either of them will make it.
