Of course they are! Who wants to live in a world where you extend a guy a max contract for a number of years and he just decides he doesn’t want to honor that contract, making up nonsense to exploit a loop hole. The whole model falls down when this stuff becomes normalized. Some think Simmons has a legit gripe (ok, they’re mostly flaming and hate the Sixers) but essentially any “reasons” can be applied once this becomes common place.

Last night's loss against the Pacers was the first where I really felt the undermanned unit couldn't compete. They are starting to feel the loss of Embiid and Simmons still being out because the deep bench has struggled to play more minutes. Guys like Maxey are legit but when you begin relying on Korkmaz, Niang and Reed for a lot of minutes, well they can't really deliver night in and night out and are pressing.

There’s only one scenario where that happens: the Sixers turn the Simmons asset into a number 2 scoring option that plays the 2 or 3 and can get his own shot. That’s why Morey is dragging his feet. He knows this. He’s not gonna settle for less than that until he absolutely positively has to.
