So, Kendrick Perkins and fat ass Brian Windhorst said what everyone is thinking:

They don't want to come out and say he's lying.

But, the bottom line is, he wants to get paid. But, doesn't want to play in Philly.

Windy said...

Owners don't want the Sixers to give in and neither does the NBA.

He signed his contract...

Live up to it or forfeit your check.

Sounds simple....

The NBA has stuck their nose in stuff before, I think they should here. But we know Silver doesn’t own a pair.

I bet if you put a gun to the head of CJ McCollum and the other guys in the NBA PA, they want the Sixers to hold fast as well. The last thing they want is for the owners to view this as possible problem in the future. If the players start treating their long term contracts as voidable on their end, the owners are going to demand the same on their side.

Q, I think Jayson Tatum should "decide" he no longer wants to play for the Boston Celtics and be released immediately, what do you think?

Imagine if Tatum got upset because of what Marcus Smart said and demanded that he publicly apologize or he would leave the team and demand a trade? I'm guessing that Q might have a slightly different opinion in that case.

What an unfair comparison. Stop that! Thanks. Tatum's liked by his teammates & the city of Boston. I don't think that can be said about Ben 'big baby' Simmons with his teammates or the city of cheesesteaks.

What should Embiid and Doc apologize for?

Embiid and Doc took it outside the locker room. That's a no no in sports. Say whatever you want inside the locker room, but be supportive publicly has been a thing in sports (especially professional sports) since sports were invented.

Embiid was understandable to an extent because it was immediately after a tough loss and he's an emotional player. Doc saying what he said was worse. He's knows better. Not only is he the coach, but he's also a former player. If one of his coaches had said the same about him as he did Simmons...I don't see Doc reacting like Simmons has, but he damn sure would have been pissed.

That isn't to excuse Simmons behavior because his reaction reached beyond ridiculous a long time ago.

This situation is mainly on Simmons...but the Sixers aren't blameless.

Pretty much this. Doc screwed up. And he should have cleaned it up the next day and just done a mea culpa.

But Simmons reacted in the most over the top way imaginable and he made it public, well through his agent. He tried to steamroll the Sixers and completely miscalculated. His team saw situations like Tristan Thompson or Anthony Davis and felt they could do the same but they somehow ignored that he had 4 years left on his contract.

If he continues to play these games and they can't find a suitable trade, I bet you that the team looks to not count the season as an accrued season for Simmons. Meaning he would still have 4 years left on his contract next year. They will at least threaten that and the league will support them as much as they can.

Good luck with that

Not when the cba allows this

You’d have to prove he was faking to be able to do that

What I have been saying all along.

Just seems like most on here don’t leave any room for the possibility that his issues are legit.

I am not saying they are for sure. I don’t know.

But neither does anyone else who posts here. And assuming that he is faking is wrong.
I can agree with that.

Devil's advocate....

Anthony Davis demanded a trade.

Anthony Davis still wanted to play.

But, the Pelicans shut him down.

Markelle Fultz was mentally and physically unable to play. He still got paid even when fans were skeptical.

On the same note...

Kyrie Irving wanted a trade.

Cavs said Nah.

Kyrie said " Cool. I'll have surgery".

There's precedent for both sides of the argument.

I readily admit that I could be wrong.

This just feels different.

The kyrie one was weird because he wouldn’t have missed the whole season anyway.

Cavs easily could’ve sat that one out

If that is what he's doing, that is truly despicable.

Everyone handles challenges differently.

Paul George, Derozan played thru it the best they could.

Kevin Love too.

Fultz, Simmons and Royce White could not or would not.

One thing to note about all those situations?

The two Gus who got suspended without pay, Simmons/White, both played for team led by Daryl Morey.

This ain't his first rodeo.

Yes

And morey calling white a liar aged horribly.

He gets no benefit of the doubt on this issue

The problem is no one is credible

At all.

It’s a complete trainwreck

Embiid is the only trustworthy one.

Hes been a gasoline pouring asshole, but he’s real. Lol

The timing of how it went public does look awful. So I get it.

But….

A significant mental health issue like severe anxiety really would explain everything from Simmons side. From his poor play to the way he responded when Embiid and Doc criticized him publicly to how he tried to avoid teammates and distance himself from the organization.

I just think if he had real issues the money wouldn’t matter since he has plenty of it. He tipped his hand by demanding a trade. The league really needs to step in here, no team should be put through this.

Kings lose again last night to move to 5-8. Just one of numerous teams that could panic and blink first.
