I think ^this^ would be a rash conclusion to jump to.

As has already been mentioned, the NBA is a wing-driven league now.

Furthermore, the C's have some flexibility (esp after this year) to try to add a third star.

I don't see why our attitude should be something like, "better jump at Simmons now because this may be the best we can do" panic button time.

Brown and Tatum have had some playoff success. And they are still only 25 and 23, respectively.

I don’t buy the hypothesis yet either

But something isn’t working

Their defense is awful when al isn’t on the floor.

They should blow it up besides those 2

^ I agree with this.

Big Al has been a pleasant surprise (at his age). His defense is still quite good.

To me, lack of effort has been the main scourge so far this young season...

... but the C's have looked better the last 3 games... hopefully, they've learned a lesson about hustle and consistency.

Well I wasn't really saying that the Celtics should or should not trade for Simmons.

The league is wing driven but that doesn't mean that you can just pile up wings and it will work. Both Tatum and Brown offer similar styles. I think that the Celtics would need to at least think about getting a more complimentary player to Tatum.

Fair enough.

If a team is gonna have 2 similar stars, then 2 versatile wings who can shoot and play defense is the way to double up.

That being said: I would agree that the two Jay's are likely not a championship paring by themselves. It's gonna take a 3rd star, and likely Tatum taking another step forward in his game in addition.

Brown is a rich man's #3, poor man's #2.

I think Simmons can be that guy.

But they need to do it without breaking up the jays

I concur.

Simmons, Tatum and Brown is fascinating.

I don't think Philly would ever agree to it, though... (just as Boston wouldn't agree to Brown for Simmons).

Take the picks and kick the can down the road
At this point if someone will take his salary the next 3 years they better take it.

Picks that aren’t lottery picks = the same value as Kelly Olynick on the open market.
Jrue went for 3 non lotto picks

Harden 4

Just take the picks

The optics are that they are unnecessarily antagonizing him to get access to personal medical information they don’t have a right to in order to steal more money from him
How are they stealing money from him? He is the one that does not want to play. I have been reading thru this thread, you have a warped sense of reality. Simmons is the antagonizer here, the Sixers just want a good return on a 3 time all-star, and max pay player. How is that so wrong?

so if Ben leaves...I don't think I have hard feelings towards him...

it would more be a relief, let him go be someone else's problem.

but I don't think I'd be mad about him leaving, tbh

If he goes out West and they see him once a year, I’ll have that sports hate energy for his first trip back to Philly. After that, it will be let by gones be by gones. But if he stays in the East on a rival or contender like the Celtics, then the hate will just be fueled going forward.

Q is looking for maximum pain for the Sixers. Which is understandable given his team.

I hold no anger towards Ben. While he has handled this poorly, I do think the Sixers could have handled things better as well.

I still believe that we will get a good return for Ben. Morey knows that he just needs to wait until December when re-signed players can be traded and teams are struggling. For all his flaws, Simmons still holds a ton of promise for a team that needs change things around.

The only promise Simmons is showing is that he wants to get paid. No team in their right mind is going to take that headache on.
