This is exactly what he hasn't done.
Which is why the Sixers fined him, as they should.
This is exactly what he hasn't done.
Exactly, and I would bet that he is not.And that’s the missing piece. The Sixers don’t even have confirmation that he’s seen any doctor about this.
You continue to ignore the fact that the Sixers had his back for years throughout this whole situation. Years. Only at the end of the playoffs last year, when it became impossible to ignore the elephant in the room, were things said.
At what point do you have to admit the truth as an organization and say publicly that Ben Simmons needs to improve or you need to move on from him?
There is a world of difference between confidence issues and actual mental health issues that cause instability in other parts of your life. Major Depression, suicidal ideations, bipolar etc
Those would be disorders that would be worth paying your employee to seek help for. Saying you're sad because you can't hit a free throw is the lamest shit I've ever seen.
If he wants to sit out to "seek help" then he rightly should not get paid to do so.
Yeah. If he's lying about seeing someone that is going to be a real problem. The Sixers will have no choice but to suspend him.
That is not at all what I am saying.
Mental health issues cover a wide array of issues.
Severe anxiety actually would explain everything he has done pretty well. From his play, to his media interactions, to his response to the team when they threw him under the bus.
Just because someone has mental health issues does not mean they are depressed or suicidal.
Anxiety is highly unlikely to be an issue that would allow you to be excused from work and continue to be compensated.
I agree.
If he is lying.
Someone posted earlier that he is seeing someone. Just not Philly’s doctor's
No, I am not ignoring it at all.
That was my main point at the start of this mess.
The public comments were a monumental error no matter what the truth is about Simmons’ struggles.
Had Embiid and Rivers had an ounce of self control and kept their thoughts about their teammate to themselves, they could have traded Ben at full value over the offseason and claimed fit between him and Embiid.
But they didn’t do that. And now they are paying for it.
And yes, the mess they are in is every bit as much on the 6ers handling of it as it is on Ben. Maybe more.

That is not true at all
I know multiple people who have taken long term leave due to anxiety disorder

Well I guess technically you could be correct but full value at that point is not what I think you are implying. His value dropped like a stone during the playoffs last year, no way around that. No, I am not ignoring it at all.

I just disagree that people that know basketball didn’t see what was going on. I guarantee you the word has been out on him for quite a while. His value would have been based a lot more on the first few hundred games he had played than the last few in the playoffs. The “value drop” from the playoffs was greatly exaggerated.
NOW his value has dropped a ton because of the drama and all the question marks surrounding him. His value would have been like 3 times higher had Philly just quietly shopped him in the off season.
