Exactly, and I would bet that he is not.

Yeah. If he's lying about seeing someone that is going to be a real problem. The Sixers will have no choice but to suspend him.

You continue to ignore the fact that the Sixers had his back for years throughout this whole situation. Years. Only at the end of the playoffs last year, when it became impossible to ignore the elephant in the room, were things said.

At what point do you have to admit the truth as an organization and say publicly that Ben Simmons needs to improve or you need to move on from him?

No, I am not ignoring it at all.

That was my main point at the start of this mess.

The public comments were a monumental error no matter what the truth is about Simmons’ struggles.

Had Embiid and Rivers had an ounce of self control and kept their thoughts about their teammate to themselves, they could have traded Ben at full value over the offseason and claimed fit between him and Embiid.

But they didn’t do that. And now they are paying for it.

And yes, the mess they are in is every bit as much on the 6ers handling of it as it is on Ben. Maybe more.

There is a world of difference between confidence issues and actual mental health issues that cause instability in other parts of your life. Major Depression, suicidal ideations, bipolar etc

Those would be disorders that would be worth paying your employee to seek help for. Saying you're sad because you can't hit a free throw is the lamest shit I've ever seen.

If he wants to sit out to "seek help" then he rightly should not get paid to do so.

That is not at all what I am saying.

Mental health issues cover a wide array of issues.

Severe anxiety actually would explain everything he has done pretty well. From his play, to his media interactions, to his response to the team when they threw him under the bus.

Just because someone has mental health issues does not mean they are depressed or suicidal.

I agree.

If he is lying.

Someone posted earlier that he is seeing someone. Just not Philly’s doctor's

Anxiety is highly unlikely to be an issue that would allow you to be excused from work and continue to be compensated.

That is not true at all

I know multiple people who have taken long term leave due to anxiety disorder

Initial reports were he was seeing someone through the resources the players union has

If he’s lying about it, he deserves the suspension

This is absolutely it.

I felt bad for the pacers with Paul George

I felt a little bad for the rockets last year. Although their mismanagement of the pg position and their lack of willingness to go deep into the tax with a contender lessened that

He is claiming that he is using someone recommended through the NBAPA. He won't give the name to the Sixers though which is suspicious. The professional would not give up any personal details but he, or she, would be able to confirm that Simmons is talking to them.

Long term is rarely paid out though. If they scored that good for them.

This is way over the top.

Rivers and Embiid made a couple of minor comments right after a series where Simmons was historically terrible. Simmons chose to be offended rather than take responsibility.

Coaches talk shit about players all the time. Just last week Nick Nurse publicly called out several players on the Raptors for shit play. It happens.

Simmons ego and pride are what caused this situation to blow up. It's why he's in his 5th year and hasn't improved his offensive game one iota.

Well I guess technically you could be correct but full value at that point is not what I think you are implying. His value dropped like a stone during the playoffs last year, no way around that.

His value would have been based a lot more on the first few hundred games he had played than the last few in the playoffs. The “value drop” from the playoffs was greatly exaggerated.

NOW his value has dropped a ton because of the drama and all the question marks surrounding him. His value would have been like 3 times higher had Philly just quietly shopped him in the off season.

I just disagree that people that know basketball didn’t see what was going on. I guarantee you the word has been out on him for quite a while.
