There was a guy on Dan Patrick this morning Mark Hayes, I believe, and he just ripped Simmons.

Among other things he said that Ben Simmons showed us who he was at LSU when he showed up, gave half an effort and didn't go to class because he knew he was going to be a top pick. He just wanted to get that season over so he could move on to NBA money.

He also said that he just wants to make as much money as he can as fast as he can and he doesn't care where it is. It's not about winning for him, it's about getting his money and being famous.
I don't care if he attended class at LSU, it is a joke that he had to go to college at all. They wasted his time, he returned the favor.

Simmons is some tough guy all the sudden? LOL.

Well I don't know if he's a tough guy but he is 6'11' and 240 lbs of muscle.

There aren't many NBA players that I would want to tangle with.

How did LSU waste his time? They didn't make the rule. The NBA did. LSU just recruited and him and gave him a place to play and work on his game while until he was eligible.

If he didn't want to play, he should have sat out the season and worked with a trainer or gone overseas to play.

I thought he was referring to the NBA wasting his time.

LSU didn't, the NBA did. He just passed it on. LSU came out on top of that, his name generated a lot of money for them, more than the cost of the scholarship he didn't want. NCAA hates the Mandatory year as much as the players do. One and done is not great for them.

Overseas was a chance, but that has not always been great for players draft stock, why take the gamble? I am willing to bet if Gleague ignite was up and running like it is now he would have done that. Based on the success of that so far I think in a few years we are going to need a second ignite team.

Meh, if you don't want to play in college, don't accept the scholarship. Considering that LSU didn't make the tournament that season, they didn't make all that much. Part of the money that high end players make for a school involves the deep tourney run that usually results from getting them.

I have a good lawyer and I can take a punch. Let’s go Mr Softee (Simmons) bring that shit on!

As his (hopeful) lawyer I’m using this as evidence that you started the fight and mr Simmons exercised his legal right to defend himself…..

…or I can be bought lol

They had an entire ad campaign about his arrival that sold season tickets, not to mention the merchandise sales from his time there. It's not like Simmons was getting anything from those. In fact, LSU advertised Simmons name so much that it drew criticism from all over. LSU is not a victim, they raked in cash and for 19, 12, and 5 out of him. LSU had less care than anybody if Simmons attended class.

I tend to agree, but there is something to be said for players that really care about winning. We love guys like Jordan and Kobe who would run over their own mothers to win titles. Winning is its own reward for them. Simmons could have spent his year of forced unpaid labor at least trying to win, why not? Screw classes, but show some passion for the game.

He put in 20, 12, and 5, and got to the Free Throw line 300 times. He was top 10 in the SEC in Assist Percentage, Rebound Percentage, Steal Rate, and +/-. I am not sure we can say he didn't try on the court. They did not win, but it wasn't because of him.

OK but I was reacting to the comment that he half-assed it and wasn't committed to winning, from trojan's post.
