Old Milwaukee & PBR mostly but sometimes there was other stuff usually stuff my uncles brought over like Hamms, Red, White & Blue, Pfeiffer's, Buckhorn and Hauenstein.
To keep dad at home instead of the bars, mom let him have a fridge in the basement and he always kept it stocked with Heidelberg. He'd make occasional trips to the distributor with 10-12 cases of empty bottles (nickle apiece dep made it worth returning them)and come back with full cases. I can still remember the Olympia Beer commercials with the OlyOlyO tune. My HS sports teams were the Olympians and my friends & I would go to football games with our kazoos to hum that tune during the game.
Now you're talking. My old man didn't drink, but me and my friend growing up used to "borrow" cases of the the Beast from his mom. She would stop every Friday and pick up 2 cases on her way home from work and pound all weekend. She asked us once if we had taken them and we convinced her that she had drank 2 cases on Friday by herself, which she had to know was impossible. However, she still continued to buy the same amount, she would just pick up another case on Saturday.
It is still my beer of choice for all macro brewed beers.
