After watching this game again, I really don't know where to start.....so I guess I'll just say....we flat out gave Chicago this game. You simply cannot take 16 penalties (a few of them tacky) and go -4 in the turnover department and win. The penalty situation not only contributes to the loss, but it makes for a terrible game viewing-wise. The refs need to tone it down, or at least show some consistency throughout the league.

Kaepernick was terrible. The 3 ints/1 fumble were equally on him and good defensive play, but he was generally inaccurate all evening. His decision-making was sub-par as well, and not just with his attempts. People are generally complaining about the three consecutive runs inside the Bears 10 yard line, as was I, but as I learned later, the third run was an audible....don't know what Kaep saw. Yet another example of how everything under the sun isn't Greg Roman's fault. Still, the first two runs were with a loaded defensive alignment, leaving someone 1 on 1 on the outside. You combine that with poor O-line play, a few drops by the receivers, and penalties.....recipe for disaster. Gore was one of the few standouts on offense....something we can basically say for the last decade.

The defense was pretty much effective, except for the penalties. They completely stuffed the run, and the Bears only had one real drive that wasn't really paved with yellow flags. Strong outings from J. Smith and I. Williams. Great push up the middle. Willis was business as usual and Willhoite played a better game this week. Lemonier was particularly bad however....the worst player on defense Sunday Night. The younger guys in general had a rough night. Pretty much no push from the outside at all on Cutler. Fangio relies much on the talent vs. implementing schemes to take on offenses.

The whole 'killer instinct' is somewhat irrelevant when the real issue were turnovers and penalties. Had they taken care of business, this is another game put away early. The bogus penalty call on Boldin negating the long TD Gore run, followed up by Colin's fumble a couple of plays later summed up the night. The one good thing is the Vernon Davis' injury isn't severe and could be back this Sunday.

Good insight, here is a breakdown of some of the turnovers and the last play that fell incomplete to Crabs. Boldin beat his man and if Kaep looks his way and places the ball in front that's a TD.

Thanks for that link, interesting to read. Way too critical of Kap from my view. Sure, he deserves criticsm for pick and the fumble, but the article itself pointed out how great of defensive plays they were. In addition to Kap, there can also be blame for the o-line and the receivers. Did the line protect? Not on the last pick. Did the receivers do their part? Not crabs on pick 2. And were the receivers open? Hard to say from the tv view.

I am still very suspicious of our receivers corp and how they are used. They are all basically possession receivers with only one game breaker, Vernon, and he has to block a lot and cannot go deep that often. Without much speed, we don't put any fear into defenses and they can play us close. Whenever we do have speed, we don't use it. How often do we run deep routes? Seems like few and far between, fewer than most teams.

I think it's two fold,we have solid personnel as seen on some of the long throws Kaep hit Boldin on vs Dallas however, those routes take time to develop. It's like Peyton in the SB (not comparing the two QBs) but if your WR are running deep routes but the pressure is in your face it becomes difficult to run those plays.

I just wouldn't be able to watch that game again. That was one of the most frustrating games I can remember in recent memory.

well just watched the game. Just got back from Vacation and that was just bad to blow a lead like that. Defense isn't the same and Kap didn't play a great game. We need to stop going to Crabtree on the last play. we are 0-3 when throwing to Crabtree on last play.

I suspect Kaep's passing strength is firing it to a spot, and not passing a receiver open? thus, most of our routes are 'static', and it looks like "possession" routes. if Kaep's strength isn't hitting receivers in motion, then ok doing what they're doing now. cause at least the pass has a good chance for completion.

I was thinking more about our receivers physical attributes, none are real speedy or breakaway threats. Kap has shown he can throw to a guy on the move many times.

Throwing guys open is a very scary thing for QBs. It involves a ton of trust in both the players he's throwing to and scheme.

He can certainly improve in that department but I don't know if it's fair to say if the issue is Kap, playcalling or both.

Certainly last year outside of Boldin there wasn't many guys he could trust to be somewhere when throwing someone open. Vernon Davis is talented but I'm not sure I'd consider him a trust worthy target with him getting stone hands every so often.

We need to face facts. Kap still suck ass from the pocket. I doubt he'll ever be elite from the pocket.

The D played great in the first half. We just couldn't close out the game.

The absence of Bowman and Aldon will be felt early on. Hopefully the 9ers can get it together and win some games.

I Agree. Im hoping for 6-3 when we get Both back. Would also help if brock can get healthy.
