Sadly, so people don't get the wrong idea one has to phrase it as Carolina Beach Music. Otherwise you wind up with a bunch of surf music stuff. Over in the UK, they have their own spin called Northern Soul.
The closest thing to perfection to ever emerge from this genre is this song, one of my all-time favorites of any song ever recorded.
The roots of Carolina Beach Music are also the same of those of other genres like Rock & Roll, Rhythm & Blues, and Modern Country. One of the early pioneers of the constant backbeat sound, if not the first was Fats Domino. Backbeat had been a thing, but in 1949 Fats decided to kick up the aggression which would lead others to follow.
I'll throw a token Ibiza style album. Tiesto had a 'latin america' double album that was basically made for the beach. Disc 1 is a little on the cheesier side of house music so I'll throw out disc 2 for this thread.
