1. LSU vs 8. Louisville
4. Virginia Tech vs. 5. Wisconsin
3. Houston vs. 6. Oregon
2. Oklahoma State vs. 7. Texas Christian

Win your conference...play in playoff. The regular season would be meaningful because then regular season conference play would determine who played in the conference championship, which would determine who plays in the playoffs. The only problem is travel because fans arent gonna travel to 3 different tournament sites, and i think people would be opposed to having a first round game at the higher seeds home.

Wasn't Mark Cuban supposed to be coming up with some kind of playoff system he was going to use to coax the NCAA away from the BCS...anyone remember this or was it just bs?

I dont think you can reward teams based solely on conference play. Otherwise there would be no point to the OOC. Itd become nothing more than glorified scrimmages.

This whole thing is super easy if they want to do it. Leave the BCS as it is. Take the 6 AQ conference champs and then take the next 10 highest ranked teams. The first round of the playoffs is the same 8 bowls every year. You give the 6 conference champs the top 6 seeds based on where they finish in the BCS rankings and seed the next 10 based on their rankings. You leave the BCS bowls as the quarter finals and semis and rotate them every year ( you would have to add 2 bowls to BCS bowl status but thats easy. Add the Cotton because of history and the Cap One because of recent prominence). This leaves us with something like this ( using current standings)

Outback Bowl- #1 LSU vs # 16 Wisconsin
Gator Bowl- #8 Stanford vs #9 Houston
Alamo Bowl- #4 Oregon vs #13 Kansas State
Liberty Bowl- #5 Michigan State vs #12 Oklahoma
Sun Bowl- #3 VT vs #14 South Carolina
Insight Bowl- #6 WVU vs #11 Arkansas
Pinstripe Bowl- # 7 Bama vs #10 Boise
Peach Bowl- #2 OK State vs #15 Georgia

Winners would play the next week and so on. Start the playoff the 3rd week of December ( giving everyone at least a week off) and itd be done by the second week of January ( which is when the season ends already). You could still keep all the other bowls, the current bowls would be fine with it, the BCS people would be fine since their system is still being used, the money would be HUGE and we'd all get what we want.. a true national champion.

This would be a very nice system. Repped.

most OOC games are a joke right now anyway. Most decent teams just beat up on scrubs. It might make the glorified scrimmages mean something because you'd want a higher seed in the playoff, and you wouldnt want to be the 8 seed and having to play the number one team.

The incentive is still to not schedule anyone tough...what was Oregon's incentive to schedule LSU? They would definitely be in the driver's seat for the National Championship right now over Alabama had they not scheduled LSU earlier in the year...

The power has to be taken away from the BCS. They will never willingly give it up. If the NCAA is the governing body of college football...they must govern it.

The only way I see they do it is if there is a large enough riff to cause a change.... Or we quit supporting our teams by not going to the game & quit watching them on TV. If the schools & conferences start losing season tickets & TV revenue, the schools would have to petition the NCAA to do something. So is that where we are.... the riff or are you ready to give college football up for a couple of years.

Those schedules a re made 3-4 years in advance right? How was Oregon to know they were walking in to a knife fight?

I like rmilia1's idea the best. It's seems like the best way to make everybody happy and get a true champion. If only there were some way to reward teams for a tough OOC schedule.

Just use the top 8 in the BCS. If you're below 8 you don't belong. (yes I know Oregon is below 8.. That's what happens when you lose play flat and lose to USC)

1 vs 8
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5

1st game at the higher ranked facility after the CCGs. Next games at the big bowls on a rotating basis (drop the Fiesta) where Rose and Orange get the semi-finals this year while the other gets the CCG.
