Thanks guys.

It's a long season Dash. Calgary will bounce back. They did a lot of good things tonight.

GL to the Nucks on Saturday Puck. :D

Bah, I'm a sore loser. I was rooting for Calgary and they screwed it all up. I'm already on the fire the Sutters and trade JayBo train. Edmonton is supposed to suck for at least another year (what do they have, 23 rookies and a drunk driver on that club?!?) and the Flames were supposed to show they really can score.

If anyone picked the Bulin Wall to get the first shutout of the year in POTY they definately deserve a REP. I don't think anybody could say they saw this coming.

Sorry dash I'm sure the Sutters will get a lot of questions about the lack of production. However I do think it's well deserved.

That game (from the Flames perspective) actually reminds me of the Canucks start last season.
things went way too easy in the preseason (7-0), and took things a bit for granted when things got started for real.
I think the first game was a 5-2 loss to calgary, and we lost the next two after that before turning it around a bit.

I think two years ago (Canucks home opener), the Canucks spanked the Flames 6-love. I was at the Sticky Wicket in Victoria and the beer and waitresses made up for the hockey.

gotta find something somewhere :) I remember that game well :)

Flames looked slow and not able to contain the Oilers Speed. I believe one of Sutters 2 biggest mistakes in teh past few years was to let both cammalerri and lombardi go. both had speed and great skill and were very important cogs for that team. bringing in guys like Jokien and leaf rejects just hurt the team long term. Kipper could be hammered this year with non stop attacks on that defense. Jay Bo looked really out of place on quite a few plays and I saw him make some major brain farts with no puck support. I really believed he was a better player than what he has shown.

I think as well that the Oilers won on heart and youth in their home opener, can they keep that going for 81 more games? as that is what they will need to do to win in the West. If that is a preview (and I dont believe one game is a preview of anyone good or bad----- unlike HNIC where the Leafs apparently are making the playoffs now with hope and JS is back to his old self after one game really its one game)........ I think the Flames will be better than that and the oilers not as good (not this year). if the oilers can maintain this wow look out that is alot of speed and youth. that is an exciting team to watch. And the Bulin wall was back at least for one game ;)

Flames look so slow on d ... like the canucks last year i just think its a successful preseason getting in guys heads

Eberle's had plenty of dazzle. One that still haunts me is Mario Lemieux's. Mario stole the puck right off Ray Bourque's stick (nobody ever did that) and skated in all alone and beat Pete Peeters. First game, first shift, first shot.

But Eberle's was prettier.

Mario's 1st was pretty special, but this one passes it imho.
after seeing the highlight 20 times, I still don't know how that toe drag got past the d-man's stick.
