That is true. I do wonder if that would have happened to the extent it has had we not extended Beltre another year. I wonder if the Rangers even know how this is supposed to play out. They seem to be preparing Ryan Cordell to be ready to play multiple positions and one of those is 3B so there seems to be a lot of variables at work here.

Seems they are planning for multiple contingencies, seeing how things have played out in recent years, probably a smart idea, I mean I doubt they go after Choo had they known DDJ would play as well as he has as a Rule V guy, or that Martin would shit the bed, or Hamilton would be handed back to us pennies on the dollar, or that Rua would be in the OF b/c Odor had jumped AAA and establish himself as a quality 2B at age 20. Or that Profar would miss 2 consecutive years with a bum shoulder

Still trying to figure out why they would not wait until near end of this season to extend Beltre. Negotiate another year but why extend she you already have that in your back pocket

I initially thought they did this to make him a much more attractive player at the trading deadline.

I think it was simply to save some money on this year's payroll. I didn't agree with it at the time and I still think it was way too premature to extend him then. As each year goes by it will be harder and harder to both keep him healthy and to keep him productive enough to warrant the expenditure.

Well he won't last long with Perez about ready. Renauldo may stay up although w do need AAA starters ready.

Ortiz to me is maybe our best potential MILB pitcher with upside. I have a really good feeling about him

He looks 40 pounds lighter. I know they said he'd lost 25, but he looks even lighter than that. Probably a very good thing for his back.

This comeback could not have happened to a nicer and more deserving person that Matt Harrison.

I hope his heart doesn't explode outta his chest with the first pitch. You know his adrenaline level is off the charts.
