We are just not getting it done with runners on base. But in the 1st inning, we are not getting it done, either. Blanco is not a leadoff guy. He is either hot or cold, no in between. His .338 OBP seems OK, but we need more. It is important for this team to score 1st, as they are 30-15 when scoring 1st, and 15-37 when the other team scores 1st.

Why not try something like this:

Moped, 2b (.368 obp)
BB9, 1b (.340)
Posey, c (.396)
Panda, 3b (.318)
Pencil, rf (.308)
Blanco, cf (.340)
Stamos, ss (.331)
Player du jour, lf (????)
pitcher

Scutero will see more pitches in the leadoff spot than Blanco, who some games sees 5-6 pitches the 1st inning, and other games sees 5-6 the whole game. Bochy doesn't seem to want to run guys anyway, so why do we put speed at the top of the lineup? Rather see guys get on.

BB9 will see better pitches hitting in front of Posey, and has some speed for a guy his size.

Posey, nuff said.

Panda seems to be coming around. He is hot and cold as well.

Pencil does not impress me with his RBI prowess. Perhaps we have him bat 2nd, and for the same reasons as BB9. In this current scenario, we have R-L-R-S-R-L-S-L-?

Blanco, meh

Stamos, perhaps hitting here he will see better pitches. Batting 8th has been difficult for him, as he sees few decent pitches with the pitcher behind him. And he hasn't been hitting the decent pitches anyway.

Frenchy, Tanaka-san, Towers, player to be named later, what a nightmare in LF for this team. This is where dumpster diving gets you. I'd rather see one of the kids from AAA come up and play regularly, get some experience. Tanaka's misplay of the opening triple, and then his stupid base running gaffe were horrible today. He does seem to give some good at bats. Too early to tell for Frenchy, but to be cut by the Royals?!?! Please.

Just a thought to mix things up.

Some decent ideas in there, although it's kind of a Zen exercise as there's not a chance in hell they shake things up that much with the lineup.

I will say Scutaro might be effective as he is because he is batting 2nd, that his approach would have to change batting first, or behind the pitcher later in the game, and it might reduce his numbers.

It will reduce Scutaro's numbers but should increase Posey, Sandoval and Pence opportunities to drive in runs.

Though if we are not worried about speed at the top I would flip flop BB9 and Moped.

1. BB9
2. Moped
3. Posey
4. Panda
5. Pencil
6. Blanco/Francoeur
7. Stamos
8. Torres/Blanco

I think that BB9's perfect spot would be the 2 hole with Posey batting third. He is a relatively selective hitter who would assuredly see more fastballls as the counts deepen each at bat which would theoretically mean that he would get better, more predictable pitches to hit. He knows what to do with it when he's on a pitch, he just isn't on pitches as often as us Lunatic Fringe would like to see of him. Moped leading off is in our best interest. Our second best hitter getting the most at bats by leading him off seems just fine by me.

I was thinking that the strikeouts with BB9 leading off would not be as bad since there wouldn't be a lot of baserunners on when he comes up.
