Ortiz gave a good defense for it. If a guy goes deep, why not ? Pitchers show their emotions at times when they get an important K. No big deal. There are cases when it isn't appropriate I guess... like being up by 8 late in the game.

I'd take more issue if a player does a bat flip when losing big late in a game.

No problem with bat flips. If a pitcher doesn't want the batter to flip his bat, don't give up the home run.

I have no problem w/pitching inside on a guy if he homers off you, but should a hitter be able to fling his bat at a pitcher next time up, if the pitcher pumped his fist after striking that batter out earlier in the game?

Yes that would make it even

No throwing bats at anyone is asinine.

Why is it okay to throw a ball at a guy then?
I'm not OK with throwing at batters just because they went deep, but I'm all for pitching inside, especially of the batter wants to crowd the plate. Regardless any pitcher who throws at or near the head should be tossed, accident or not. It just to much of chance at a major injury. If a pitcher feels he must bean a guy, hit him in his ass.

As for the pitcher pumping his fist after a strikeout, I tell the batter, not to strike out if that fist pump bothers him.

I agree. Kinda reminds me of when Deion used to high-step on a punt return when his team was losing by 30.

Players who bat-flip when their team is being blown out are Me Players. Not team players.

Yep, and Mark Gastineaus sank dance as the JETS were losing bad. I'm sure we can name 200+ of these idiots.

Precisely. I'd be more pissed if I was their teammates than if I was their opponents.

Bat flips are for the TV replays. Fans don't give a crap unless it's the fans of the team that just got flipped. Cocky behavior has a way of evening itself out.

No. But the opposing pitcher should be able to throw at the pitcher in his next AB...

Oh wait...

If I'm Texas, Joey Bats is definitely wearing one in his first at bat. Then again, if I was Harvey I would've pulled a Syndergaard on KC after having sit through all that pre-game stuff.

I don't see how it's "good" for the game.

All it seems to due is cause more problems than its worth.

Why isn't there an option for neither? I mean, who really cares? Besides Madison Bumgarner, I mean.

Well deserved, Epic back and forth game. Down by 2 in the 11th and hits 3-run walk off bomb. This is why God created the bat flip.
