Hendricks may need his stuff to be "on" tonight in order to close out this Houston top of the order. Last night was rocky.

Well, his stuff was very on in that sequence vs Alvarez. Shit. I was nervous as all hell that he would run into one and tie it in one swing. He was totally lost against Hendricks.

Truly surreal, the turnaround from a few days ago. Where the fanbase was declaring the season officially over after the KC series. It's only a few days since most had given up and now I turn on the TV late in the game tonight. It's a legitimate playoff atmosphere. Chants of "Let's Go White Sox" as we rally vs Verlander and eventually come from behind again to win. Crowd going apeshit, place up for grabs, players with a postseason type of look in their eye.

It's hard to recall such a dramatic/quick turn of events and overall vibes with a baseball team. This happened nearly overnight.

Fascinating little tidbit I found in Chicago Sports Mockery:

Entering the seventh inning, the White Sox found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-1 score. To this point in the year, the Astros were 62-6 when leading to start the seventh inning. The White Sox were 4-47 when trailing to start the seventh.

Like I said the other day, you could count the number of times the Sox came from behind in the late innings, and that was really more of a guestimation. Unless you have only three fingers, looks like I had it right.

I know we need to win as much as possible due to digging ourself in a hole, but 2-2 vs the Astros is not the end of the world...3-1 and a win today and we leave this series way better than I thought we would.
