Moving to the bullpen did him wonders, he's been pretty nasty over the last 1.5 years (his season ended early in 2013). He was one of the few guys I wanted the Sox to keep at the deadline, but the Sox did get an intriguing pitching prospect (Eduardo Rodriguez, was struggling, but dominated AA after being traded to the Sox org (0.96 ERA, 37.1 IP, 1.02 WHIP, 39/8 K/BB in 6 starts)).

Pitchers usually throw harder when moving from the rotation to the bullpen.

He actually threw harder on the Tigers. He was throwing 98-99 with Detroit, but he had no control. He was also a starting pitcher. Looks like he has scaled it back some and has better control.
