Murph is wondering if he's gone. 7 guys, plus SOB under contract, I'd think someone will be moved one way or another.

ahh I see. number 7 is Rome though. that's not really a lot of depth.
I would like to see someone else take Bieksa though, my patience for him ran out in these past playoffs.

condition is:

The deal is complete, but has not yet been registered with the NHL. The only detail to be worked out is whether the player Vancouver wants is available at #25. If he is, then Vancouver will make the pick and Florida will instead get Vancouver's first round pick in 2011.

From TSN

from the sound of it at the draft, it was Florida that had the choice of this year or next.

On Victor Oreskovich...

Oreskovich was signed to a two-year entry level contract by the Colorado Avalanche. Victor returned for his second Avalanche training camp prior to the 2007–08 season but failed to impress as he was assigned to AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters. Oreskovich, however, did not report to the Monsters and was suspended by the Avalanche before annoucing his shock retirement from the game citing burnout and lost drive.

TSN asked Gillis if he was finished adding to his D, and he said no, we're not done yet.
said there were a few guys they would target via UFA.

the short vid in on the TSN list.

Getting rid of Bernier and Grabner sure opens up some spots up front. Hodgson better have a good camp this year.

yes, they got a couple of pretty good players out of it.
Biggest thing for the Canucks is that they got tougher in a hurry.

I'm a little surprised that we didn't get one of Fla's three 2nd round picks in return.
I know Gillis had said that he wants to be a participant in round 2 and 3.
not a huge deal obviously, just surprised me a bit.

I posted that one in the draft day thread

Oreskovich seems interesting to me. 3 years away from the game and just walks in to panthers camp and impresses (could be more an indictment on the Panthers)

Ballard was interviewed this morning on radio and gave him a glowing scouting report (a little bias there too - lol)

big guy, good skater, hits, good forechecker ... if he can score a little on the 3rd/4th line he more than replaces Bernier at close to a quarter the salary

Quinton Howden is the answer (that's who the Pans selected with the 25th pick received in the Ballard trade). I see he's playing with San Antonio in the AHL. He was a great player in junior for Moose Jaw.
