Honestly, in terms of pro football, I have been very unimpressed with Mayfield in this game. I don’t know if he will go in the first.

Actually he did some things very well. He is mostly accurate and can throw a ball into tight spaces. He knows how to influence DBs to help uncover some receivers. I did think he took some uncessary sacks If you see you have nothing throw the ball away. I have watched him a lot this year, size is/could be his biggest issue.

If you weren't impressed that they hung 31 on one of the best defenses in college football .... well I don't need to say more.

BTW the kicker cost them the game. The bad squib at the end of the half, the 29 yard punt with just about 3:00 minutes go. Both teams ran the hell out of the ball. GA over three hundred yards and Oklahoma over 200.

Mayfield took one snap under center, was mostly inaccurate (look beyond completion percentage), every play was a triple option it seemed, and he looked a little shell shocked from playing a quick and aggressive defense in the second half.

Yes, he does do a good job of looking off defenders.

The concern is the holding of the ball too long and taking unnecessary sacks. This is a sign of a guy that has been able to use his athletic ability to avoid most defenders and either end up running or scrambling until someone is wide open. does that sound familiar? It should, as RG3 was the exact same way. And as we saw, in the NFL they are never a superior athlete so this play style rarely works.

Mayfield is a great collegiate player and might make it in the NFL, but will require much training. He is a project, but in no way an expected starter in 2018. And in no way is he a fit for a Gruden offense that requires quick passes, throwing to a spot, etc.

IMO the announcers made a good pt yesterday. Mayfield has size concerns, but people will always point out that Wilson and Brees thrive in the NFL in spite of their size. However Mayfield doesn't have the skillset of either of these two so his challenge will be greater. He certainly could develop into a good NFL QB over time, but it is far from a given & it should be viewed as a risk.

Thanks for you opinions, I'll pass. Like the rest of the class I don't think anyone is a guarantee. His size is the first alarm. If you only watched yesterday then it would be like me saying I know how Lamar Jackson will be in the NFL. Please tell me how many of the QBs going in the upcoming draft go under center? I can tell you probably none.

You might be right and there is a chance you will be wrong. Then too a lot of you whined that the Redskins wasted a pick on Cousin's :nono: The guy that took no snaps from under center at Baylor was much better. :D We'll see, I still like him as much as anyone else coming out but as I said they all have questions marks.

For the record I was on board with drafting Kirk. In fact when it happened, I told my buddies it’d be the perfect NFL story the 4th rounder replaces the “Savior”... Just tooting my own horn. Lol

I'm biased of course but that Lil SOB is a winner period. Strong arm and accurate on the run is what he's good at.
Give me a 6' guy that lives for football over a 6'4" golden boy who looks good in shorts in July

I think KC is only 6'3". But, he's little taller standing on all that money the Skins paid him over the last 2 years to win football games.

Baker is a player...

I like how competitive Mayfield is, he has a good arm, he is very accurate and as you said he can throw accurately on the move. He was slower than last night than I remember. GA took away his TE who is a big target for him and No. 9 dropped some passes. Baker missed a few too. They still hung 31 in a half to a team that gave up 40 to Auburn in their only loss and 28 in a win to Missouri. GA didn't give up 20 to any other team. Not sure if all of that translates to NFL but he has a shot.
