Baccari Rambo and Phillip Thomas, the two safeties I wanted the most in this year's draft, are turning headed at the Redskin's rookie camp. Isn't it always like the Bengals to pick the wrong player.

excerpt~

"Their ball skills were very evident over the last few days," coach Mike Shanahan said of Rambo and Thomas. "We do a lot of different things with our secondary. We put a lot of pressure on them mentally as well as physically. You've got be able to play both (strong and free safety). They've got the size and the athletic ability to play both positions."

I'm as tough on the Bengals as the next guy, but I'm not ready to suggest they picked the wrong Georgia safety based off of one minicamp.

Besides, given their DB play from last season, I'm sure anyone would be an upgrade. This was the same group that made Armon Binns look good.

This is around the time every team talks up their draftees. I wouldn't read anything to it.

The Bengals wanted an in the box safety, so for what we wanted, Williams was the better fit.

You genius' do realize that was just an excerpt of a larger article right? In the article they go on to praise both Rambo in particular, not just acknowledge him as some guy on their team.

Just like every team does every year.

Our coaches rave about Robert Sands ability to catch hard.

Listening to coaches is sort of silly.

It's about fucking time somebody got that reference. I thought it was going to be wasted.

I'm a little embarrassed that it went right past me.... I'll be right there if 'Meet me Halfway' makes an appearance.

I'm actually listening to the "Over the top" soundtrack right now. Dead serious. Creepy.

And I'm a Kenny Loggins fan. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I haven't seen that film or heard the music in over a decade.

Loggins can write a catchy tune.

I have the DVD. I already subjected my 6 year old to it. I passed the torch. Poor bastard.

The 80s were a special time.... We were somehow able to suspend disbelief and be fine with the fact that Sly won those arm wrestling matches against guys four times his size. Same way we were all okay with a 32 year old Daniel Larusso beating all the Cobra Kais in ANYTHING athletic.
