Springfield, Johansen Suffer Bitter End To AHL Season | BlueJackets Xtra
Interesting happenings. The team just kinda gave up, and once again the organization singled out Johansen. And this time, I am glad.
Not that they benched him, but for what Kekeleinen is doing it for. When Ryan got demoted last season, he came back with a purpose, and while he didn't light the scoring up, he surely raised his game to "man level". And going to the AHL in time to be a part of a collapse has the potential to wreck the kid.
But the GM basically said "I don't care what he thinks. He knows what's expected and he needs to man up if he wants to be a pro in this league".
Too many talented kids get handled with kid gloves and it doesn't help anyone. and it is often said that you can't truly excel until you've faced a bitter disappointment. Kid's 21 years old, a potential star. And no one in the organization is handing him anything. I like it.
