I mean losing to Rich fucking Hill is pretty much a nail in the coffin.

These Cubbies are going to be a shell of themselves for the rest of the series.
Arguably a top 3 pitcher when healthy?

He has a lifetime ERA of 4.10 and wHIP of 1.286 and 2.32 SO/W. Enough already.

He is having a good year. That's as far as it goes.
Lol at ERA. Lol at "wHIP." And triple LOL at "SO/W" (is that even a stat)?

When pitching, he has probably been the best starter this year not named Clayton Kershaw. And it's 2016, and he started a game last night, and you laughed like the Cubs were facing Jered Weaver.

Rich Hill is having a good year but please don't tell me you are going to let one year erase all of his sucktitude.

Since when was ERA a laughable stat?

Since when was ERA a laughable stat?
Since the things that affect it include
  • the pitch that leaves his hand
  • luck
  • the defense behind the pitcher
  • the ball-park
  • sequencing
The only thing of which a pitcher controls is the pitch leaving his hand. That's not to say it's an awful, or laughable statistic, but when compared to FIP, xFIP, SIERA, etc., it's certainly lacking.

Now, if you want a laughable stat, I would point you to this

and 2.32 SO/W.

Just line out the truth, instead of a feeble, incompetent response. We're making progress

What's the point? I am not going to convince you that only a small percentage of baseball nerds rely solely on sabermetrics to paint a story.

You can pull out every single stat known to man and I guarantee you it will point to this year being an anomaly for Rich Hill and not who he really is which was my original point.

Read it again - actually just the first word....the bold part of course
Ergo, I cannot refute what you just said, so I will that hypothetically someone else could, maybe

Here is where you are lacking. I made the claim that Rich Hill is having an abnormal year compared to his career. I presented stats which proved it. You claimed those stats are laughable yet you have provided absolutely nothing to refute my claim. Ergo, shut the fuck up or prove your claim.

Among starters with 110 IP in 2016:

Rich Hill
FIP- : 58 (3rd best in baseball)
xFIP- : 80 (9th best in baseball)
ERA- (since you just love that stat): 53 (3rd best in baseball)
SIERA: 3.29 (5th best in baseball)
K%: 29.4% (5th best in baseball)

Basically, his only weakness is walks (which he's merely average at, at 7.5% BB%, good for 65th out of 123 qualifying pitchers).

Now your turn.

First off, he's been injured a ton his whole career, as his 110.1 IP this year is a career high. Second off, who gives a shit if it's an anomaly compared to, say 2012? He's a whole different pitcher. Are you saying his 2012 stats should have more weight on how he pitches this postseason than his freaking 2016 stats? Go watch soccer or something
