then why hasnt the nfl had them fix it........i have never heard anyone bitch about the field in chicago when watching nfl games

They had to cancel Family Day the day of the event last year because the turf was unplayable. It's constantly ranked the worst in the NFL's surveys of players. And believe me, it is a huge issue that comes up after any Bears game, especially after bad weather or at the end of the year.

so really no real argument......its a grass field without a dome in a cold place

im sure field turf will cut the injuries down by 70% :)

anyways the point is if the b1g wanted the game in chicago they would play there regardless of field surfaces

The Metrodome sucks. The only good reason to have it there would be to rotate through the sub-regions of the conference footprint. But seriously, the Metrodome sucks.

I don't think the restaurants in Indy are really that bad. That's kind of a Chicago/Detroit suburbanite complaint right there... Most B1G fans are from blue collar small towns, I think the two brew-pubs I went to in downtown Indy are enjoyable enough for most of us...and frankly we don't care how anyone feels about that. Also, most people aren't planning on spending much money at the CCG...because they are probably also planning on going to whatever bowl they get.

Chicago in December? Mneh. It's a great place to visit between Easter and Thanksgiving I guess. Parking at for Soldier isn't terrible though.

Did someone say Cleveland? :dhd:

They can't upgrade the field. Hoffa is buried there.

I mean it's only fair, I know, but then we have to go to Philly and Pittsburgh. I don't mind Pittsburgh, but Philly can fuck off. Is anyone in that town nice? Do they slap their own mothers? I gotta know.

Chicago is the capital of the Midwest, no doubt.

I get that it's more expensive (although easier to fly to for alumni on the coasts), but championship games at Soldier Field would be awesome.

I forget. Are you a Chicago native?

Yes, but what does it matter?

There's one world-class city in the Big Ten's footprint, and it's Chicago.

But nobody cares besides Chicago natives or Bears/Cubs fans dude. Being a World Class city doesn't really make it a great football destination. I would know. We used to go to Packer games at Soldier all the time. Chicago being as big as it is actually made it a bit more of a pain in the ass.

Yeah and it's a bigger pain in the ass for the Big East basketball tournament to be at MSG then if they just had it in Hartford, CT... but being in Manhattan is what makes it so special.

The Metrodome will be gone by the time Indy's contract is up.

B1G CCG needs to stay a night game too. Some of those places could potentially be so cold at night in december, you would have fans leaving the stadium.

Minny is a shithole. That venue is not suited to host this kind of event. Detroit is practically a home game for michigan.

They hosted a Superbowl there chief, pretty sure they could make a Big 10 Championship work..But again, moot point, as the Dome will be replaced by the time Indy's contract is up.

Zygi wants retractable roof, but the states contribution will only be for a dome. Zygi will have to pay any added expense if the plan changes.

In the begining stages Zygi wanted open air, but the state would not pay anything towards it if it didn't have a roof.
