Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen is also a Michigan State fan -- at least for this week.

After all, Andersen is a fan of the Big Ten.

Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen will be clapping for Michigan State on Saturday.
"Absolutely," he said when asked if he'd watch No. 7 Michigan State at No. 3 Oregon on Saturday. "I'm excited about that game. It's a big football game throughout the country, and I'm excited to sit back and watch that one, and I'll be pulling for the Big Ten without question." --- ESPN

What does he care? Wisconsin could win out and still miss the playoff considering LSU will finish about 4th in the SEC West.

But they covered the spread so it will be a win in the committee's eyes.

Read it. Understood it.

The committee isn't putting a Big 10 champion in a playoff if they couldn't beat a team that finished 4th in their own division.

We have to root for Michigan State because all the experts on ESPN say the Big 10 is eliminated from the CFP if Michigan State loses today.

And SEC nutswingers like David Pollack, Jesse Palmer, and Paul Finebaum are never wrong.

"That was the first statement opportunity for the whole conference to say, hey, we're not just some punching bag. Now, Big Ten nation turns its lonely eyes to you, MSU. Picture the Princess Leia hologram coming out of R2D2 in the first "Star Wars:" Help us. You're our only hope. "

Now that's good stuff... :pound:

they aren't eliminated of course, but it will probably mean a big 10 champion has to be undefeated and hope at least a few other conference champions lose a game.

if michigan state loses to oregon and oregon and lsu end up not winning their conferences, it will be awfully tough to put a big 10 champion in the playoff unless they are undefeated and were very impressive.

it's a long season, but there aren't that many chances for conferences to get data points against one another. then, as the season moves along, those data points get adjusted. if Wisconsin ends up .500 and LSU blows out everyone in the SEC, suddenly the Big 10 looks a lot better.

By the end of the day, tOSU, MSU and Michigan could all have losses. My guess is Oregon beats MSU, tOSU barely slides by VTech and Michigan loses. MSU can prob absorb a close loss to Oregon and still make the playoff, though.

maybe. but if oregon doesn't win the pac-12 and another conference has 2 strong candidates at the end of the year, it will be interesting.

i know this is a big reach, but what if tennessee beats oklahoma, oklahoma wins the big 12 and tennessee ends up 7-5? how could you not put 2 SEC teams in the playoff in that situation?

The ONLY teams I want to do well are Iowa and EVERYONE Iowa plays except for the week they play the Hawks. Since Iowa doesnt play MSU I could give 2 shits about whether Sparty wins.

That's a possible scenario, I can also think of ones where 2 SEC teams could make the playoff and a B1G school could still get in with one good loss.

Well I for one will root for fellow Big Ten teams in out of conference play.

But should Ohio State and/or Michigan State lose, meh, I'll take that as well.
