stephens made a bunch of idiot errors as usual, and was never in the match with vika at all

stephens is indeed trash. she bought into her own hype, and hasn't put in the work to earn the spotlight consistently. countdown to saviano dumping her for her lazy work ethic.

Thanks.

Fed hasn't beaten Murray, Nole, or Nadal in any round at a hard court major in almost 5 years.

He beat Murray at the 2014 AO in straight sets.

It was surprising that it was straight sets, I never would have thought it.

But other than that, yeah, that was the only time.

It is the weekend!!!

I'll be up for the entire day session and may even stay up for a set or 2 in the first night match for the next 2 nights

I like your enthusiasm.

I know. 2 tiebreakers, and a 6-4 set. Cmon Isner. :(

I freaking love tiebreakers especially in the 4th set.

So much freaking pressure on the player down 2 sets to 1

Andy Roddick said the same thing in a radio interview, maybe around 2010 or 2011.

He said the greatest thing in tennis is the 4th set tiebreak, because either someone wins the match, or you're going to a 5th. A big swing either way.

Stan wins 10-8 in the breaker.

Garcia Lope absolutely choked away that set.

Up 5-0 & 6-2 in the tiebreak and also 8-7 with the set on his racket...failed to seal the deal both times

I liked the tiebreaker.

Don't think Garcia Lopez choked it, as it was more about Wawrinka's shotmaking.

Anytime he loses either the announcers or Rafa use the injury excuse.

Even when his match went 5 sets last week they used the injury excuse

I agree in general about Rafa's matches, that the commentators always talk about injuries.

I think this was the one time where they laid off that angle for the most part, and gave credit to Berdych. And talked about his new coach.

ESPN.com also had this about Berdych's strategy:

+++++++++++++++++

Australian Open - Expert effort from Tomas Berdych sends Rafael Nadal packing - ESPN

But it's become clear that Vallverdu has noteworthy coaching abilities. The game-plan team Berdych designed rested on the idea (growing in popularity) that the best way to beat Nadal is to attack his strength: that monstrous forehand. For Nadal is never more comfortable than when he's backed into his backhand corner and free to mine acute angles with the inside-out forehand or reverse the flow and hit the same shot inside-out, down the near line.

Ok, had paused the match for the past 30 mins to catch up on this thread.

Will resume now, and post again when I'm live.

Thanks for correcting the stats there, I knew something was not right. Murray wasn't back to 100% then so the win couldn't possibly count to many including Cezero who has a tendency to underestimate Fed badly.

Wish Fed used Stan's BH grip.
