While I agree that Young needs to be traded and we need to start going with a youth movement all around...... Comparing stats from a AAA player and a MLB player really doesn't work.

But even is asche hits .250 he would make up for it with the glove, not to mention the couple of prospects we could get back. You just saw Texas overpay for garza and the yanks traded for soriano. We need to trade him within these next 8 days

We could have used Asche's bat tonight against the Cards. Same story for the Phils, no or little bats and another loss!!

For those people who think selling is giving up on the season.. I completely disagree, in this very weak NL East, we actually have a better chance with asche ruf franco maybe a costellanos? Maybe a couple of high level pitching prospects to win this division.

I hear ya' PhilliesRamsSuns. It is so damn frustrating watching this team this season. BTW, stop on over to the Rams pages. The vets report tomorrow. I am one of the mods over there as well.

If rube is a decent gm and trades paps a month ago like he should have, we probably have castellanos. Now, I don't see it happening with Detroit having shored up their bullpen. Maybe Boston would be interested? They lost bailey for the year but I think uehara has been pretty good for them. What a mess. If Ruben was smart, castellanos would be in AAA right now

Well, if all Reuben is going to do is buy, call up some of these young guys like Asche and Franco and give them a whirl. The NL East is weak as Atlanta, Washington, and the Phils all lost tonight. Two of the three have records below .500. So, now is the time. There is no better opportunity to infuse the line-up with youth than now.

I see the Phillies getting swept by the Cardinals, honestly, and we won't win the series against the Tigers, so I expect that we will be selling.

Called the sweep so far...... Apparently Rube still says we won't be selling though. Not buy either though, which is a good thing. Ideal would be to sell, but I am fine with Rube not selling our farm off. The Utley shit is disturbing though

Remember when I repeatedly stated I didn't want young? For, like, the last two seasons? I do.

yes, it's true that AAA doesn't equal MLB. but when you're 22 and hit .349 at A, then .300 at AA and .294 at AAA in the span of a year and a half.. you know what you're doing.

i remember saying to cedrique a couple months ago that asche was a slow starter because he's moving so fast through the system.. and i just about guarantee if he is left alone at AAA, he'll finish around a .300 average and .850 ops. right now he's at .294/.817.

i also said he'll be wasting those numbers for the pigs instead of the phils.

june: .318 avg, .392 obp, .896 ops, 3 hr, 5 steals
july: .333 avg, .381 obp, .907 ops, 4 hr, 4 steals

i still think he's a decent stretch from his full ceiling and will be as good, if not better, than chase utley.. which is obviously saying a ton.

regardless, it's 100% obvious right now that young should be traded and asche's long phils career should be starting within the next week.

indeed. i never cared for young, but didn't dislike the idea either since we needed someone. it was clear early on though with his horrible defense and lack of power that frandsen should have received more time. then with asche proving himself, he should have been traded a while ago. it's a business. we have better options. you do what you have to do.
