As a Tennessee fan why should I be excited by the season?

Child please we've won a national championship, played for another and have 2 SEC titles this decade. You guys have barely showed up.

I wouldn't be surprised if Washington doesn't run you out of the stadium in the opening game.

Quit embarrassing yourself.

We've played Clemson tough the last two years and they made the playoff both years and won a natty plus beat both teams in the national championship game last year. Oh and we won the West last year.

Rarely have seen someone who enjoyed throwing shit on themselves so much as you do.

LoL the whole "we played x tough argument." Tennessee nearly beat two playoffs team in 2016 as well (OU and Bama). Didn't mean jack.

Yeah but when you're putting championship trophies in the case it does. Maybe in 5 years or so you'll be able to experience it.

I really don't understand why an Auburn fan is talking trash. You guys lost to fucking UCF. You should be taking up fishing instead of on here trolling.

Tennessee should probably move to the Sun Belt conference.

The last time Tennessee only won 4 games in one season, was Johnny Majors first year coaching, 1977.

I know. I was there. UT football hero who won at Iowa State, who won a natty at Pitt comes home to his alma mater... and... well, we know what happened. Tennessee was never going to hold it's golden boy accountable. Majors' health took him out of the picture.

The next season he went .500

It took him 11 years to reach a 10 win season.

I think you guys kicked him to the curb and fired him.

No. Majors' health issues led to his leaving. He had to check out for heart surgery. While filling in, Fulmer got something out of the Vols that Majors had not, winning 3 in a row. Majors returned and the Vols go 2-3 before Tennessee asked for his resignation. Behind the scenes maneuvering and Majors publicly complaining about his contract before the season's start contributed.

I guess you are referring to the season opener vs West Virginia? I don't expect the Vols to prevail in that one, but stranger things have happened.

UT should win vs ETSU, UTEP & Charlotte. They might be able to beat Florida (whoever loses that one will probably do so in heart-breaking fashion). A win vs. South Carolina is always a possibility, and the Vols rarely lose at home vs Kentucky. They should probably be better than Vandy by the end of the season, and they get Missouri at the end of a 3-game home stand.

Seven wins is possible, and maybe an 8th win in a bowl game. Not too likely, but very possible.
Shouldn't be that strange. Kansas rushed for 367 yds against WVU. Pruitt will keep Grier on the sideline. I'm going with 7-5. Unfortunately one of those 5 will be similar to when Saban had to settle the down the bammers by comparing Louisiana-Monroe to 9/11.

Majors being a drunk prick to boosters was his downfall. I don't blame Majors for his stance, but that was why he was fired in a hospital bed. Luckily the boosters chose a VFL who won a championship. The minute fat Phil went against them, Mike Hamilton was forced to have John Currie fire Fulmer, with zero plan in place. Amazing how that "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" phrase goes.....

Yes sir. Not sure where you're located but planes fly into Charlotte. I know a few good ol boys with pills or anything else you want and my leatherman has great pliers for pulling teeth. Just let me know. :suds:

Most people are saying that it would be a HUGE Achievement to win 6 games. Once again we have the great gauntlet middle schedule with:

Florida, @ Georgia, Auburn, @ Alabama, and @ South Carolina

Lovely. What do I have to be even excited about? Why do I even watch college football?

You should get excited because you're a Tennessee fan. Just that simple.

Well, it looked like to me, that Tennessee had some really good talent the past few years.
An upgrade in coaching should be easy to spot.

The OP is right regarding Tennessee. Don't even know your new coaches name, but I can tell you he won't work out. Get excited in 3-4 years when he is fired and the Vols are looking to hire the right guy.
