Fine, but last time I checked, when you slap a cop you're dealt with swiftly and harshly. In this case nothing happened until much later, when this little pissant went crying about a sexual assault, which was dismissed, forcing the whiner to look for something else to make his payday happen.

Yes, what OBJ did was stupid (like he does anything that isnt) but you'd have to be Stevie Wonder to not see this is a bullshit sham of a charge.

It's still assault for all you know his captain saw the video and said "Oh hell no we can't allow this, we cant set that precedent". Yes what OBJ did was stupid and yes it warrants an arrest.

Well thoughts and prayers are with that officer's family over this. Will there be a procession and black ribbons, or simply a GofundMe to cover his medical expenses?

What other demographic of person do you like to dehumanize?

The cop was probably off duty and working as a “hired security” in his off time. When I worked security at Fenway Park there were always detail cops working. They were paid by the Red Sox.

So no one who is struck should be allowed to file charges?

A cop needs days to consider how bad his buttcheek hurts, and for someone to tell him that guy was OBJ in order to decide he was assaulted badly enough to persue an arrest?

Depends on the contract agreement between the team and the department they work for. Sometimes the cops just get regular or OT pay from their department and then the team/organization pays the department.

1) Immediate arrest may have caused backlash in the lockerroom
2) It may not have even been the individual cop’s choice to arrest him or apply for the arrest warrant. The department or prosecutor’s office may have decided that it would be bad precedent to not seek charges on rudely touching an officer.

I agree but even if the department pays them Im pretty sure the club reimburses the city. I’m sure taxpayers don’t want to be footing that bill.

Probably would have caused a mini-riot in the locker room. Wonder if the cop could have charged him for hair stylist services then.

Oh definitely. It’s part of the team’s operating costs one way or the other.

For those defending OBJ,why thell would you want him slapping your ass, let alone doind it to an officer you dont touch at all, and then to act even stupider in his face when the officer confronted him.....?

Being drunk has no excuses for someones actions either......Man up to being a human being....Especially for the ones who hold high regard life.......Like children.....

OBJ is a total douchebag.

When I look at this situation I don’t see a criminal as much as I see a guy who thinks the rules don’t apply to him. In fact, you can point to several instances throughout his career where he exhibits this. While almost all of them can be categorized as harmless he has to understand that the rules do apply to him.

The officer had no problem getting in their face telling them to quit smoking, doesn't seem like he was worried about a powder keg. The prudent thing to have done would have to pulled OBJ aside, informed him that he could arrest him for battery.

The fact that they went to a judge the day after, asked for a sexual battery charge, which wad denied, then redrafted it for a simple battery charge, IMO is chicken shit. This is the kind of shit that makes our police and justice system look like damn fools.

I saw that. Like really? Sexual battery? So basically you have no shame man

University or State Police are on every college sideline and locker room. Sometimes in uniform and sometimes not.
So? These players were celebrating. Keep the cops out of the locker room, until they are nended.
