There is a difference between throwing fists and using a weapon. I'm pretty sure most Hockey players would be outraged if a player took off his helmet and started wacking a guy.

I know what he said and I have heard it said 100 times. Usually the discussion is related to the NBA being mostly African American and the NFL a higher % than baseball or hockey. It's the same conversation that takes place when guys in the NBA are called thugs by someone who brings up baseball and hockey as a comparison. I'm not even saying it's not accurate. I'm just saying that's the angle and it's thinly veiled at best.

90% of these ex athletes are not very intelligent. They have skated by on athletic ability their entire life. Now they try to use big words and sound smart but they really aren't. I don't think it should come as a surprise when they say stupid things.
