Are the Redskins Putting a Roof on FedEx Field? - Hogs Haven[/QUOTE]

I'm not sure if this makes any sense at all CR316. Unless he plans to remain at this site why do it? I heard a report earlier that whatever is being done, it's to improve the fan experience there. Aren't there better things to improve on than a roof?

Hopefully, but Snyder won't be seeing any SB down the road if it's a retractable roof... unless he finally ops for synthetic/turf grass. Since I doubt they'll be another cold weather SB Snyders only option to host the event will either cost him a new stadium or the cheaper route... add a roof.

nothing wrong with looking at all your options . a rertactable roof with synthetic turf could be a good move but it will eliminate a move

The teams lease does not expire until 2027. So moving is not really an option because they would have to buy out of the lease, which Im betting would NOT be cheap.

Who owns Fedex? I thought it was Snyder? If so, and he wants to move, a buyout might not be that onerous.

Snyder owns the building, the land itself is leased through 2027. SO even if he moved and razed the building, he would have to pay the state the lease rights for the next 12 years.

Sounds to me like Snyder's best option would be to rent out old RFK for a season, raze the current monstrosity and build his new state of the art playpen on the current site. Costs would be lower because the foundation is already in place. How difficult would it be to then work out the issues relating to the commute to and from.

Problem is, to Raze and rebuild on the same sight in a single off season would be extremely expensive. And you still have the parking and commute problems. And to rent out RFK for a season or two means he loses money because the seating capacity drops by half, and the City would likely force the issue on the name. I know you would be fine with that, but reality is, I dont see Snyder being held hostage by the City.

My bet is still the new home will be in Richmond.

You could be right on that Richmond move, if so he'd better hope that there are enough new fans to replace those lost to Baltimore in terms of viewership. The DMV is one hellava big market to give up!!!
