Are the 2015-16 Kings Better Than the 2012 and 2014 Cup Teams?

Decent read from our clowns over at ESPN.

Morning 3-on-3: The best Kings team yet?

As always, Scott Turdside shows his dislike for LA. Which is fine, because in both years he brushed them off but at the end of the year they hoisted silver.

Keep bringing the hateraid, Scotty - pretty much ensures a third Cup in 5 years soon.

Which team do you think is best, Puck?

I think their responses are pretty funny, Burnside says they still have a lot to prove? Like what? Sure some new pieces here and there, but their core is still there and even better and more experienced than ever. If Quick gets into his normal playoff rhythm and everything else stays the same, I don't think any team can stop them.

My vote would go to the 2014 team. In 2012, they were very consistent in the playoffs; it was your typical grind it out, defensive, Kings hockey accompanied by stellar goaltending from Quick.

The 2014 team was different, starting from the WCQFs being down 3-0, charging back to win. Then the Game 7s against Anaheim and Chicago, including SJ all 3 series on the road. The wild games (the Kings winning Game 2 6-2 against Chicago in the WCFs with a Carter hat trick after being down 2-0 early, etc) and of course who could forget Martinez and the OT win against NY for the Cup.

My point is the 2012 was a machine, while the 2014 team was all over the map. They were sloppy (losing 7-2 to SJ in Game 2), they were tight. They endured a lot more difficulty but also rose to the occasion and won when it mattered. To me that team could play either a wide open style (see said 5, 6 goal games) but also shut it down (Game 5 at SJ 4-1 win, Game 6 vs SJ 3-0 win) when needed.

They simply were the more adaptable team in regards to what faced them where as the 2012 team was more conservative with the same approach.
