So, I'm working through some due diligence which includes information relating to personal appearance fees for a certain NFL star (who I will not name).

In his metro area, he gets $15,000/hr
Outside his metro area, he gets $30,000/hr.

This guy isn't a Tom Brady type, but he's a name you'd all know.

Unreal.

Hometown discount? But that's not much. A couple of years ago Lance Armstrong cost $400,000. If I recall correctly, Billy Beane was in the $100,000 range (but you got an autographed copy of money ball too!).

Is that what it is, a discount for the home fans? I guess it would have to be...why would non hometown people pay more to see the guy?

I assume that an appearance "out-of-market" incurs more costs for the player, thus, a higher cost to the event organizer.

And this email:

"____ will not agree to an appearance at the Super Bowl. His take is that he will either be playing in it or will have no interest in going to the Super Bowl for personal or professional reasons."

Love that.

+1. Like not touching (or in some cases even looking at) the Stanley Cup until you've won one.

Interesting. The analogy that came to mind for me was "I'm not going to the party if my ex-girlfriend is there."

Probably says way too much about me.

Hahahaha. Probably closer to the truth. I put too much emphasis on the sport, and not enough on the athlete. My mistake was in assuming that the individual athlete would do the same. Silly me. :).

I wonder how much Bartman's appearance fees are. Does he give a hometown discount?

In Miami? I'm sure he's in great demand. Not getting top dollar in either Chicago or the DR, I'd guess....
