Sure did Pods! Even recorded and watched it twice already. Great reminiscing moments there.

I was in the Persian Gulf onboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT during the playoffs/Series and I always got the games one day after the fact. It irked me at the time, cuz I waited my whole life to see the Sox in a WS and when they finally got there, where was I? Stuck floating on the other side of the world. LOL

All that said, though, I cannot look a gift horse in the mouth by failing to realize that I at least got to witness my Boys win a series during my lifetime when there were millions of Sox fans that never had that pleasure.

2005 was a magical season and that documentary certainly captured the mood of the players in the dugout and the views of management (Jerry, Kenny & Oz). They had the right players at the right time to create a 'perfect storm' and the team chemistry to win it all that year.

The comment about Garland and Buehrle drinking in the BP kinda made me scratch my head, too. I wonder if that is really true? Reminded me of the Bobby V Red Sox a couple of seasons ago. :suds:

It's true. It was known at the time that Buehrle and some starters would do that off and on during their non-start days. This has been common practice in the MLB for starting pitchers for very, very long time. The Red Sox chicken and beer incident has made it far less common. But it still happens to this day.

Wow... I can maybe see it during the regular season, but during the playoffs & especially the WS when a starting pitcher could be called on at any given moment?

Not that I'm doubting you ... just sounds crazy to have that going on with all the marbles on the line. Oh well ... looks like a couple of beers didn't hurt MB coming out of the pen. He got the three outs needed in that game! :tea:

I agree with you. It surprised me that they were doing it during the World Series. Perhaps it was one of those things with the way Ozzie wanted to approach the game back then. He always wanted to keep everyone loose, and didn't want them approaching the post-season differently. I think it's possible that Buehrle and the guys felt that they did it all season, and it got them here. So why mess with it?

I'm not sure, but I do know that they're big boys and not children. If they believe that isn't going to hinder the teams chances at winning, or stop them from doing their job. Then… hey… go for it. It wound up working out fine, so no harm done. Clearly he was too inebriated.

Only thing I can account from. I played ball in college, and there were many Saturday and Sunday morning double headers played just hours after some pretty heavy drinking by myself and teammates. Baseball is the one sport, aside from golf where I'd say it matters the least. I saw some guys play some damn fine ball games just a few hours after they couldn't walk straight.

Yeah, I know what you're saying here.

I played baseball in HS and our whole baseball team were the biggest acid droppers in the school.

No way. LMAO ... funny stuff.

Same time frame ... late 70s for me. Purple microdot was the preferred choice of most of my team. I never got hopped up for a game. Can't attest for any of the other guys on my team though.

I never get tired of that Youtube video.
