I was surpised that they did especually since Carter and Gagne were both out, although I also thought that if they didn't win game 5, they would lose the series...

Thought you'd be happy the Devils folded like a cheap date?

Meh, I am pretty indifferent towards both teams, though the Devils were the team I liked the least of obstacles in the Caps way. What I don't like is the Flyers with rest, after a very light travel series as a potential matchup.

That the Flyers won in 5? No. That they were the only team to do so? Very.

Maybe I'm a little surprised, but I did pick them to tie for the fastest first round win. These were my picks...

Washington over Montreal in 6 games
Philly over New Jersey in 6 games
Buffalo over Boston in 7 games
Pittsburgh over Ottawa in 7 games

San Jose over Colorado in 6 games
Chicago over Nashville in 6 games
Vancouver over LA in 7 games
Detroit over Phoenix in 7 games

Got a decent chance of being close to 100%.

From the beginning, I had the Flyers in six, so I'm a bit surprised they closed the series. I'm even more surprised that the Caps and Pens didn't close either of theirs on home ice. I'd have thought at least one of them would have done it.

I'm kind of surprised... although has there been any "top team" with a "big name goalie" since the lockout that's LESS scary than New Jersey? "System teams" aren't going to go very far in the postseason if they lack true scoring talent. I don't care how good Brodeur is for you, if you get no goal support and your defense can't stop three different lines, you're not getting out of the first round.

I was surprised that the team riding the worst luck regarding lineup decimating injuries was also the first team to dispatch another one. That says a lot about the character of the Flyers and Bouch's extremely good timing in playing the best hockey of his career.

You lose a leg in the war or something? Or like whole side?

Due to censorship/security issues, I cannot discuss anything about what may or may not have happened in a country far away.

I think it's amazing that 7 of the 8 series will go at least 6 games.

People keep saying it more and more but it's true and that's parity. This first round shows you how level the playing field really is now.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see 4 or 5 game 7's as well and that would be pretty close to a record I would think.
