They're coming out with a tablet device called the Microsoft Surface.

It looks pretty nice, I especially like the keyboard/case and the built in stand.

They sold me with the keyboard. That's the biggest PITA when it comes to tablets, IMO. It would be awesome if they found some cool, useful ways to integrate it with the XBOX. Maybe use it kinda like the WiiU controller.

Hate tablets and hate Android. So, I like this and will get one right away. It's just a really slim laptop with touchscreen.

I was looking at a friend's boat last night at his house. He just paid over $5k for a new GPS plotter set-up from Raytheon. I said, "you know you can just put that on your laptop for like $100?" He paused for a moment and became quite displeased with himself.

What do you mean?

It's supposed to compete with the Ipad, which has a choke hold on the tablet industry right now, it will be an uphill battle at this point.

Personally I think the tablets are a dead end industry. Watch them slowly evolve into....laptops. Meanwhile....touch screen isn't exactly something that we can't incorporate into existing workstation or laptop style PCs. So....what's the point?

Yeah but they are sold seperately and don't look this thin.

The Gorilla Glass is impressive too, I've seen countless iPads & iPhones with cracked/broken screens.

And I've never been a fan of the Apple OS', Windows 8 looks good too me.

The point is that people don't like carrying laptops for the stuff they do on tablets, and cell phones can't meet that market.

So no, they won't be disappearing anytime soon.
