I haven't heard much other than what he told the NYPost a couple days ago. Lou should be fired if this goes to arbitration.

Again, I have no problem waiting until next offseason to sign him. I am confident that we will be able to pull it off with the cap that we have opening up. I want to make sure he is 100% before giving him anything long term. Knee injuries scare the hell out of me with hockey players. Think Pavel Bure.

Uncle Lou says he's on it:

“That’s the total focus right now,” Lamoriello said.

This deal gets done before the arbatration and I feel it's gonna be a 6 or 7 year deal with a hit of around 6.5

I'll be offended as a fan if his cap hit is below Kovalchuk's.

Let's hope he doesn't ask or a similar total sum of money because we won't be able to pay him that as an organization.

i won't care what his cap hit is if its under 7 your gonna see all smiles from me :D

i would bet the biggest thing for them is the contract structure from the organizations standpoint. good thing they've added 1600 new season ticket holders... we're gonna need it if we end up paying 2 different players 10 mil in the same years.

If the cap hit is below Kovalchuk's, I won't be offended at all.
He is an RFA whereas Kovalchuk was a UFA.
He is coming back from a serious injury.
I actually hope its not more than Kovy's but definitely want something long term.

I think it will be around or even less than 6.6 million a year if its long term.

I was just going to make this thread...its insane after reading the rangers lock up two of their stars before arbitration and here we are unable to do anything with Parise? The heart of the team....don't give me that crap about next year and the cap relief. sign him ble and deal rolston or zubrus or both. this is insulting already.

whoever said about waiting to test his knee? so what happens if he is fine and this year he goes off for 50 and 90? Wow can u imagine the offers next year? Think he would want to stay with a team that questions his abilities?

Obviously the devils think his knee is fine otherwise why lock him up in rfa? Let another team come in and take the risk then no?

Fire & Ice

That's the article about the fan supporter section. I always thought this was a great idea. I almost got the package myself, but I'll be working 3 nights a week this season, so I didn't want to have to try and find people to buy my tickets.

It also says that they have renewed 85% of their tickets from last year, which is ahead of where they were last season at this time. Got to figure that the same crowd that was waiting on Kovy is probably waiting on Parise.

Frankly, with Rolston gone, I don't care if Parise has the highest cap hit in the league. I just need him re-signed for my own sanity.

the only way he leaves, as i've said over and over again, is if he wants to leave

We'll see what happens. It's hard to gauge his mindset. What if he wants to know why he's not getting $100M? How do you answer that question? Does Lou straight up tell the agent that ownership did that straight up and they outbid the kings by $40M?

Luckily, it seems like everything is still very cordial at this point based off of TG's interview.

I'm hoping we see something like a 10 year 75M contract. Maybe 12. If he walks from that, he's nuts. He is an RFA after all whereas Kovy was a UFA.
