Vanek being hurt didn't help you guys. That along with no shows from Roy and Connolly sealed your fate Boss.
The biggest issue for you guys was probably the size difference though. The Bruins just kind of out-muscled the Sabres a bit and had their way with them. Adding size to the Sabres roster should be a huge priority for Regier over the summer if you want more playoff success.
I do think the Pens wouldn't have much a problem with Habs though. The Pens are a better team then the Caps are or at least a better team when it comes to the playoffs.
Urkie I agree but a player that was out that no one talks about was Hecht. He is one of those guy's that rarely makes a mistake kills penalties and still manages to score 20 goals a season. Not a sniper or anything but I remember seeing a stat a year a go that the Sabres record with him out of the line-up isn't pretty.
A very underrated and under appreciated player. When the Sabres were on the PK and have to use Roy, Connolly and Pomminville it disrupts the flow. At least three times during the series the Sabres killed off a penalty and went on the PP right after that and those guys were gassed.
Not making excuses but I think most knowledgeable hockey fans know the effect this can have with the flow of the game.
Oh well, almost all teams have to deal with injuries this time of year and it's up to the others to pick it up and obviously the Sabres didn't do it.
I also agree the Sabres need to get bigger.
Sorry for the long post.
