@The Foot thing is you got no idea what would be a good bet while day trading.

Try These Free Trading Websites Every Day Trader Should Know

TradingView.com is a site providing real-time prices on stocks, electronically traded funds (ETF), and foreign exchange (forex) pairs.

Would you be able to make heads or tails with this data?

Do you have any idea what a stock screener is?

Do you have a strategy based on data?

Any idea of what equipment or software you need?

Do you actual know what fees your going to have to pay?

I could be wrong but I get the idea you feel your a natural born trader and you'll figure it out. You disregard that you tend to make trades based on emotion. You disregard that you have problems setting limits. You disregard that you don't have a stop button while trading. You disregard that you embrace risk even when logic says don't do it. You ask for advice and then disregard it, because your mind is made up based on want, desire, dreams, fantasy.
Tell me how are you set financially? Is losing a bundle no big deal? If it is, stop and find something less expensive then what your contemplating.

I didnt sell the house or bet the farm Harold. I'm just looking to lay 1000 or less. If I lose it it's not gonna ruin me. But I appreciate you. And everyone who has tried to talk me off the ledge. I love you guys. I'm just looking for a little action is all. I understand the risks are high and I'll probably loose but I'd rather try this then spend it on a vacation or a new lawn mower.

That's because it is a intervention. You stated your only going to risk a thousand dollars. How good are you at sticking to limits? Not really great? Think that dollar amount could spiral? Are you compulsive? I stay away from things like gambling. Why you ask? Because I'm also impulsive and prone to disregard risk. Lucky for me, if serious money is involved that changes like 180 degrees.Know thyself, recognize your weaknesses and try to save yourself from yourself. Plenty of other endeavors to try that don't include exposing yourself to your greatest temptation of disregarding your own nature.

like I said before, if you are purely looking to gamble, start researching penny stocks, or just any stocks under $5.00, and have yourself some fun.

like the others have said, the odds of you losing it will be greater than the odds of you hitting it big, but in the penny stocks, if you just hit on one or two, it usually covers the losses.

I kinda figured you were using this to supplant sports gambling, which I've done a little myself out of pure boredom during the pandemic.
But I set a hard limit on what I'm willing to put into that gamble.

if playing around with 1 rack is going to be fun for you and not detrimental, make a serious effort to just stick to only putting 1 in the game, and don't waiver from that for anything.

used to drive past this gem in East St Louis going to and from work. Never brought more than $100-$200 with me, but started popping in for a few drinks after work fairly regularly. Never got out of control, but realized that once a few of the workers recognized me, I was headed down the wrong path and stopped going altogether. Wife and I would both go, then the kids came, haven't been since.

Just going to leave this here since its good finance advice for everyone

commontopics - personalfinance

this is the kind of shit that they need to teach seniors in high school. I was fortunate enough to grow up without money, so my parents taught me the value of personal finance at an early age, and that if I wanted name brand clothes, to go to the movies with friends, etc, that I had to pay for it on my own.

Cut a lot of lawns in my time, still one of my favorite "chores". If you don't earn the money you have, it's way easier to blow it doing dumb shit. At least in my experiences with folks that come from wealthy families.

You know something Monkey ( hope your OK with me calling you monkey, because I see Barilko calls you smoke) you learn a lot about someone nature playing FF with them. I'm not risk adverse, TKO isn't really risk adverse, Foot totally disregards risk and marches to his own drummer. You are much more measured about risk, you take a risk here or there, but taking risks really isn't your thing. Foot seems to love the idea of "the hell with it I'm doing this" when it seems almost certain to end badly. I can only hope the complex nature of day trading turns him away before he steps off that cliff.

I hate casinos, hate losing money and you can lose a lot in a short time span. Wife loves the casino, but she likes to play the cheapest slot machines in house. She keeps to a limit and usually can play for quiet a while before hitting that limit. Cheap entertainment for her I guess, but I find slot machines boring.

smoke, monkey, smoking monkey, jeff - all work for me, lol

and yup, was much riskier in my 20s, didn't start seeing consistent success in fantasy or life until I dialed it down a bit.
had a few run ins with police, truly believe that if i was black and not white, that those run ins wouldn't have turned out the way that they did. nothing serious on my record, just some minor traffic violations, one time i was even asked the name of the neighborhood my wife and I lived in, and you could tell the cop's demeanor changed when i told him. that's pretty fucked up. thankfully it provided a wake up call for me, and thankfully for the advent of uber/lyft, so i never have to get behind the wheel of a car after boozing ever again.

same, mostly played black jack or the roulette wheel. one time had every chip of my color at roulette, lost every single one. wild time for a $50 buy in.

Oh I got a cop story for you. Back when I was much younger and poorer. I lived in a crime infested area and stolen cars were showing up around the area. I was driving a junker that broke down and had to ride a bus for like a year. Got a ride home one night, same night a stolen car got dumped right in front of my house. Neighbor wife mentioned I had got out of a car similar to the one stolen to the police. Couple of days later got a phone message to call a police officer before 2:00 pm. Well I didn't get home tell after 2 and the officer had left for the day. Next day same thing but more threatening, the third day the message said if they didn't hear from me before two they were going to sent a squad car so I called from work. Was told to come to the police station. I did and they told me they had a witness seeing me get out of the stolen car. By that time I had forgotten about the ride home on that one occasion, told them they were full of shit. Got thrown into the can. Let me tell you once you thrown into the pokey things change. When I asked about making a phone call I was told to sit down and shut up or they would help me with that. It was damn intimating. So I shut the hell up. They moved folks from a small individual holding cell to another to another , then to a big cell. While I was in the big cell that was packed so tight you were shoulder to shoulder., saw someone check in that was drunk or high or both getting real obnoxious to the cops. White guy. In about 5 minutes a troop of cops came in and took him into a individual holding cell, You could hear his screams of pain for a bit, then you could hear the whoop whoop as they continued beating him with their batons. Soon he was carried out by his arms and legs, blood everywhere he was fucked up bad. I was released at 2:00am just in time to go to work. I was so glad to leave, let me tell you. That's only one of my cop stories, I got more.
In truth I sort of understand. I get off the bus at either 1:30 or 2:30 am and have to walk/run through downtown. Saw people get mugged, assaulted , robbed right in front of my eyes. I was stalked, threatened and what not. I managed to avoid getting rolled, but it wasn't easy. The crimes were like a every day occurrence. Going home wasn't a cake walk either. While on the bus saw a 16 old kid get knocked the fuck out because he won't give a dude a cigarette. Jeez crime was/is so rampant it was ridiculous. Cops have a tough gig trying to control folks that are drunk, high, mentally unstable or just out and out criminals.

I was about 10-15mins away at the office on MO side, used to live about 10-15mins the other direction from the casino on IL side.

Let's swap cell #s next time to help facilitate a meet up!
