So I run 3 leagues outside of the other 5 leagues I'm in, and had to make a pretty tough call last night in one of them. It's a 6-keeper league and for the last two weeks I've sent multiple notices to all owners about setting their keepers by yesterday and about the draft date and time. I went in to confirm all keepers last night and noticed the guy that won the league last year hadn't selected any keepers. I sent him one last message and gave him until 10pm(which was almost 24 more hours than the rest of the league got) but he still did not set them. I know he receives the emails bc he confirmed his team for the league.

He will still have 6 picks before anyone gets to make their first pick, so conceivably he could get his guys back, but if he doesn't make the draft, he may not get exactly who he wanted to keep if the comp auto picks.

I felt bad doing that, but the draft is Thursday and its only fair the other 11 teams get a day or so to see the available players and construct a draft "plan". Would you all have done the same thing?

And what are some of the tough decisions you've had to make as commish?

I personally think you made the right call.. you even helped him out by giving extra time.. the league rules im sure were made clear. if he was the only one that didnt comply then thats on him.

as far as tough call.. ive really only had one.. guy didnt get his money in on time, i told him if he needed pay options i could work with him. we set something up and he just wouldnt pay. he didnt bother to show up for the draft which we all got together rented a space at a local hotel bought food and all that.. so i had the other owners take turns drafting for this guy. he didnt get screwed but he didnt have the best team either.. of course he threw a fit when he saw his team.. needless to say the next year he was fist to pay.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

Tough call, but the "principled" call.

The only tough calls I've had to make as Commish is NOT inviting some owners back. This can be awkward when most all of us are friends.

I've also been recruited to play in other leagues and it's just as hard to say no.

I have one league that I'm the commish of. It's just become a pay league in the last few years. It used to be run by another friend of mine, but he didn't do a good job so I've been tightening it up. It runs pretty well now. Our draft is Sunday 9/1, and I've told everyone they have to have their league dues to me by this Sunday, whether it's Paypal or check. I have a couple of guys I know that will drag their feet, so I've told everyone if I don't have it by then, they're out. I have a couple of guys that want in the league, so I set a buffer zone of a week to let them prepare if I have to kick some guys out. I have a feeling at least one will be out.
