Per reports, is deciding between 3 teams. One of which is the Bengals, to which the money from all the teams is "comparable".

If he leaves, it won't be because the Bengals let him walk out the door without a decent offer.

We'll see, though.

The spin began the other day, now the Bengals will get 2 high comp picks in next year's draft.

Comparable doesn't mean equal. No excuse for the Bengals not to match.

Inexcusable. I laugh at anyone who tries to claim this organization has changed it's ways.

Hey, I'm as big a homer as you, at least, but not re-signing AC is inexcusable, as rey said.....clearly making the team as good as it can be is not Mike Brown's first priority.......

I've never said that he wasn't good, or that the OL wouldn't benefit from having him at LT and sliding Whit down to guard, and Pollak (I guess) to center.

However, he's gone. And while that does suck, the bengals OL was still top 3 before he ever stepped onto the field last year.

We're already as good as Mike Brown wants us to be. And therein lies the problem.

From Devon Still...interesting comment from Rey Maualuga (if that is his legit Instagram account)

Instagram

First, a player's self worth is always over valued.

Secondly, Rey is a dumbass because the Bengals certainly paid him twice what he was worth considering his poor play every single game since he's been drafted.

edit: I don't think Hall or Atkins, or Dunlap would agree.

We can debate the merit of letting him walk, but the reality is, you can't pay everyone what they want each year. Can't do it. Could the Bengals have afforded to pay him? I'm sure they could have worked it, but they opted to save that cash and use it elsewhere. It is what it is.

The OL will be just fine, as it was last year, when he didn't play.

I'm not sure Mike Brown really understands modern football. He wouldn't let Ocho walk until he basically became to unmanageable and lost speed.

I do like that we get a few extra picks when we already have decent depth on the line.

what sort of picks are we talking about here?

7-2 in games in which Anthony Collins didn't start.

Probably a 3rd rounder for MJ

3rd or 4th for Collins

Maybe a 6th or 7th for Hawkins. He would have to really have a good year for the Bengals to get a higher comp pick for him.

I was of the understanding that because of the Bengals' low tender there would be no compensation for Hawkins.

I think he was talking about a compensatory pick...next year.

Hawkins was undrafted...so you are correct...there would be no comp pick for him. As lowest tender of RFA is repaid at draft-round picked.
