From Tim Krapakami, so consider the source--

If the Giants are a 92-94 win team as is (reasonable assumption), then mortgaging a fair amount of the future to get to 96-97 wins (about what Reyes might be expected to AT BEST contribute) in the 2011 NLW doesn't make a lot of sense.

The Rox are not a 100 win team. The doyers/dbacks/padres are not going to win 90+. It's fairly uncertain if the Rox can win 92. Therefore, we don't need to trade Wheeler+ for a guy who is injury prone and will demand $100MM+ this offseason.

Bottom line: unless the Rox go out and get a stud or two at the deadline, I don't think we NEED Reyes to win the NLW, and once we're in the playoffs I'll match our starters up with anyone (and yes, I'm looking at YOU, Philly).

First prospect list I've come across with an in season update:

Top 25 Prospect List | Project Prospect

Anyone who would give up Belt or Wheeler for Reyes...I just don't even know. Some places have said that Reyes should only fetch a couple of B+ prospects. I agree that he should but most likely he won't and the Mets will get way more.

I'm all for the Giants sticking to their plan of winning with homegrown players and under-the-radar acquisitions. It worked pretty well last year. No need to pay a guy another Zito-like contract, unless it's Lincecum. We already have a good leadoff hitter, and if Miggy can't get the job done, we've got reserves who can step up.
